I recently bought a Mossberg 500 fully rifled slug barrel and scope combo. These came bore sighted directly from the factory.
I do not have a lot of experience with scopes, but enjoyed the 3x-9x bushnell scope that was supplied. After firing 22 hunting sabots, it remained completely tight.
I fired four types of slugs through the barrel. It did not like the sabot lead slugs (Lightfield and Federal.) They only grouped off a sandbag bench rest into 5-7 inch groups. The Lightfield landed 8 inches low.
Both the Hornady SST and Winchester Platinum Tip performed great. The Hornady at 100yrds. shot about three inch groups. The Winchester sabots fired under three inches. It also had the flatest trajectory. Sighted in at 100yrds, it barely shot hight at 50yrds.
All the sabots had sharp recoil, but the Winchester punched the most.
Not a bad deer setup for under $150.
