i bought a Rossi 461 2inch revolver in .357magnum 5 days ago, and after shooting 200 rounds the firing pin broke. I heard the Rossi gun firing pins are prone to breaking, and the warranty service wants me to mail in the broken pin to avoid the shipping fee.

Now my question is how do I remove it? I can't figure out how it's pinned in. Any help would be appreciated.

Most of the Rossi revolvers have the firing pin in the hammer. I suggest you remove the hammer and mail it in. That way, you are sure to get the right part.

thanks Jim, that's a good idea. I've never taken apart a revolver before so I guess I gotta make sure I won't loose any parts. BTW, can taking apart a revolver & putting it back together mess up the timing? This is my first revolver and I've only had it for 5 days. thanks

I guess I missed the part about 5 days. If you bought it from a dealer, take it back and let them worry about it. They should either fix it or get it fixed.

If you are stuck with getting it fixed, yes, you should be able to take down that gun and put it back together without messing anything up if you take it easy and watch how everything comes out.

That gun is pretty much like the S&W and there are disassembly instructions for S&W all over the net. Try a Google search.

I bought this gun from Turner's Outdoors Man, a California chain that's notorious for their horrible customer service and a young "gun pro, know it all" sales staff.

I've bought 2 guns at Turners and twice they pissed the hell out of me and made my buying experience a major headache. I very much doubt they will try to resolve my issue and will just tell me once the guy leaves the store it's not their problem.
