Finally decided to buy a handgun and decided on the 9mm. Today I found the opportunity to buy a Ruger KP-95 for 300 with low rounds on it.
Seems like a good gun and a pretty good deal. Yes on both??
 
My dad bought both,KP95 and a black P95. they shoot good but some times wont eat blazer ammo. Paid 412 for the KP and 390 for the black.
 
I've had a Ruger P95 since 2002. It was my first handgun. I've purchased guns that I think are better overall, but none more durable or reliable. They are GREAT guns that won't let you down.

That said, $300 is (albeit only slightly) high for a used one. The K model is worth marginally more but the standard ones only sell for $305 from Buds brand new. I'd offer $275.
 
Where i live you can get a NIB P95 for around $300.I would buy used for no more than $250 IMO.
 
Ruger P-series are very solid serviceable pistols. Not sure on the price, but you won't be dissapointed with the P95.

I have a KP-90 (.45ACP) and the only trouble I have ever had with it is with American Ammo (Miami, FL). Federal "American Eagle" brand is good stuff. Shot some Blazer aluminum case and even some Wolf steel case without issues.
 
I've got a regular P95, and you can't go wrong with em. Mine will eat anything I feed it. IMO, $300 for a used one is a bit much. Like others have said, offer $250ish. Or just get one from Buds for $319 + transfer fee.
 
300 sounds fine if it is lnib. And you don't have to pay a transfer fee or sales tax.
 
I paid $225 for a lovingly used one with one mag and no box last year.

Terrific gun. Eats everything, accurate enough, comfortable to shoot. Nice looking too (IMO). I don't know what else to say about it, it just works.
 
Great pistols. That price seems a touch high. You won't be getting ripped off paying that and I don't think I would pass on it at that price necessarily, but somewhere in the $250-$275 range is about what I would pay and what I have seen them going for.
 
Funny, but in my neck of the woods, used Ruger P-series often go for more then a NIB P95. $300 seems about right. I love my P95-solid, reliable, comfortable and accurate enough.
 
If it is basically new, with no scratches or wear and comes with all the usual stuff: Box, mags, loader, brush, papers etc then 300$ is fine.

Its not a screaming deal, but why quibble over a few dollars. The gun itself is as good as many guns that cost well over 400$ and it compares well to high dollar guns.

Consider that it is about the same size, weight as a Sig P226, is equally as reliable and at 25yds or less is going to be similar in terms of "practical" accuracy.

Note, that is different from Absolute accuracy (bench rested or machine rested using a Ransom rest), in that category, something like a Sig will probably smoke it. But in terms of practical Can-you-hit-a-pie-plate-consistently type accuracy a P95 is pretty darned good. A P-series gun will usually group about 3-6in@25yds which is good enough for most purposes.

The Sig is going to retail for...well, I dunno...Lots $$$ maybe 800$ I dont really keep track of Sigs because they are so expensive.

Point is that a P95 is very good bargain at 300$.
 
To me, the main advantage of used over new (even more than price) is the possibility that you can try it out it first (if you're buying from a private owner or a gun range.) Since you're not getting a warranty, a trial target shoot would be a priority for me to make sure I wasn't just buying someone else's problem. I wouldn't presume that since P-95's have a reputation for reliability that this one is too.

I've seen new ones for about this price at Bud's, but if you can shoot this one before buying it, I think don't think $300 is out of line. If you CAN'T shoot it before buying, then I'd get a new one from Bud's. I paid $399 new (Cabelas). I'll often buy good quality used revolvers via mail, but I'm slightly wary of used semi-autos, even if I'm buying in person. That's just me.

PS - The P-95 was my first foray back into center fire Semi-autos after a long hiatus, but I eventually decided that it's Double Action/Single Action setup wasn't what I wanted for defense. Many do like it, however. Something to consider. But mine's very accurate and is reliable with good ammo and proper shooting technique. I'd never get rid of it.

I love my p95. I paid $299 BNIB at my lgs. I have run 600 or so rounds through it since I got it (march) and I have never had a single issue. Easy to shoot, Easy to clean, Accurate... All you can ask for.

And FWIW, I love the DA/SA on it, but that's more my style. To each his own.
 
Thanks for the replies. Guy selling the gun sold it after I said I'd take it. Didn't low ball him either, just sold it the someone that could meet and pay "today" vs. this weekend.

Now I'm looking again. I do like the SR's maybe even better after visiting the LGS....
