S&w 686

$1k seems to me to be awfully pricey.
Even without the lock and MIM works that would have to be perfect with all the proper papers, tools and box, even then ...

I agree. Dash 5 marked the move to mim parts and frame firing pin. Dash 4 is pre mim.

Last year I bought a S&W 681(no dash) for $400 OTD.
Just recently a Police return bunch hit the market for about the same price $400 and sold out about that fast. Unless it is something one absolutely has to have I would pass it on by.

Seems awfully high to me I bought a 3" 686 CS1 with box and docs for $875.00 maybe 2 years ago but prices on Smith's do seem to be really increasing.

In my opinion, it is way over priced. Keep an eye on Gunbroker and I'm sure you can do much better.

Good advice guys, thanks.

I have a nice collection of 586, 586 guns already, they are absolutely my favorites to shoot. This one is rare, but $1k is high. I'll wait. Thanks again.

I've been looking for one for a while and have seen them at gunshows for around $800 to $875. 1k is too much.

Good luck finding one with THREE inch barrel and SEVEN shot cylinder w/o MIM parts and lock.

That would have to be 686-4, those were pre-lock, pre-MIM and the first with a 7-shot. Supposedly the thumbpiece was MIM but that's it. Now whether they made any -4 with 3" barrels is another story.
