Mine shoots MOA or better with premium factory ammo when I do my part. That T/C Arms manufactured 5R rifled bbl. is probably one of the most accurate medium contour 16" tubes on the market.

M&P15 Sport is a great starter AR for the price if you are an occasional/recreational shooter. The lack of a forward assist, case deflector, and dusk cover is not a big deal, but I like to have those in my M4 platform.

If anything you can buy it at the cheapest price you can find ($549 in some places) and just swap out the upper for one that has the forward assist, case def, and dust cover.

Might just try some of your area small shops or general store/gun shops. For 40 years allways found better deals with them. My sport cost 595 at a general store in the NC mountains.

If you shoot it left handed, does the brass fly in front of you or peg you in the face?

My son-in-law is one of you lefties and the brass clears his face well. Mine throws brass at no more than a 40* angle for . Plenty of room because of the over sized deflector.

I'm actually right-handed but due to severe eye dominance I have to shoot rifles left.

I've been very pleased with mine. I've had it a month and put around 300 thru it without a hiccup. I paid $625 in NJ. I'm a lefthander and have no issues.

I wish I could find one for 550$
My LGS had them on sale earlier this year for just under $600 which I thought was a great deal and I know they sold a ton of them. I have not seen them on sale there again since then, though.

The main thang that sold me on the M&P15 was have'n s&w behind it. and they build all the metal work in house unlike darn near all others. And the 595 dollar price here. The rugers are good but typicaly do not shoot nearly as well. More aftermarket for the AR based M&P too.

What kind of accuracy are you seeing since free floating the bbl?
With premium factory ammo anywhere from 55gr ballistic tips to 77gr OTM it shoots 1.25" or less 5 shot groups at 100 yards (not to the same POI of course) when I do my part. My friends who are better rifle shooters than I can get it to group 1" @ 100 with regularity. I have an acquaintance who's a retired Ranger & former rifle instructor at Benning. I hope to get him to shoot it soon to eliminate any errors I may be inducing, and establish a good base line.
