I have a Colt GCT, SA Black Loaded, S&W1911DK....I'm thinking about getting a SA Trophy Match. I need one like a snail needs air brakes. Please talk me out of it. Does anyone own one and like it or regret buying it. They are costly. Thanks.

Saw one at a gun show last weekend for $1275 that looked pretty sharp. I've never shot one though.

I have one and i love it.

the sad thing is that my new Rang Officer is just as nice for quite a hundred less.

How much should the SA cost sbout? I saw one for close to $1399

Not knocking the SA, but have you ever thought of a Les Baer? Either way you can never have too many 1911's. If that's the one that trips your trigger get it.

I balked at one used in new condition that had 15 total rounds thru it for 900 one day, That was a year ago and I am getting tired of kicking myself in the butt everyday since for balking at it.

CDNN had them real recently, I'd call them before buying somewhere else.

You get checkering, magwell and stainless over the range officer.

I have one and don't regret it. I did replace the MSH, firing pin and front sight. Trigger was pretty nice after the mainspring change.

A Baer would definitely be a nicer pistol, but will cost a lot more too.

I'm over my head at $1400...the Les would run about $1900. I want one more 1911 and swear this is it :D:D:D. I was considering a Kimber but my range has a S.A.Trophy in the show case. I think it winked at me.

As someone else mentioned, check CDNN for one. I bought one about 6 months ago from them and it was much less than the normal price. I like it a lot, although the front checkering is a bit "sharp"... Very accurate.

I also recently bought a RO but haven't gotten a chance to really wring it out.

I bought my Trophy Match about 9 yrs ago. It was just over $1100.00. It's the most I've ever spent on a gun. The only reason I had that much $$ to spend at one time was because my union had just setteled on a new contract & I had a 2 yr back pay check in my hand ! :D This gun realy is worth every penny. I plan on commerating the 1st 100 yrs of the 1911 by ordering a new Range Officer some time this yr. :)

Thanks for your replies. The Shooting Center has a Range Officer and a Trophy Match. Tough choice. I'm sure I would be happy with either one but I'm a pimpy guy and appearance matters. If I do go to the range Fri morning I will use the least amount of resistance and treat myself to an early and very unnecessary, undeserving, selfish & self centered birthday present. And beg for forgiveness if needed.

You guys are making me feel real bad. I am picking up tomorrow a new Wilson Combat Classic Super Grade. I guess that the best way that i can put it is seriously expensive / pricey at about $5K out the door in CA (with tax, registration, & license plates). But I am probably the original believer in you get what you pay for (pretty much).
I additionally own 3 other handguns, all .45 auto, (1) A custom Jim Hoag longslide, (2) a Les Baer Premier II, & (3) a SA Trophy Match, made in about mid to late '90's or so, before the "Made in SA" stamp went on them and before SS was an option. Great gun. Regardless of how accurate the SA Trophy Match is or is not, I shoot best with the Hoag, then the Premier II, and lastly the SA TM. Not a bad gun, but not as nice as a Les Baer PII.
Can't wait for tomorrow morning.

G. Wells. Nice collection. The only thing keeping me from getting a Les. B., Wilson or Hoag is Money...that is the only hitch.

Thank you, sir. I have a very simple, time proven, never fail budget. I pretty much buy what I want, when I want, and then with each stupid purchase, like the $5K WC Classic SG that I am picking up tomorrow, I determine how much time I just cut off of my not so affordable lifespan. Figuring my '09 Cad CTS-V, my '87 turbo Buick, my '02 ZO6 vette beater, and guns, I will probably be on your doorstep about this time next year with a tin cup in my hand begging for money. See, I told you that it was simple. Very similar to the "why do I need water. I have a gun, my neighbors have water" philosophy.

This is my thread to Hijack so I'll say........Nice rides...
not bad for basic transportation. not bad.

Although I did hijack, I did not mean to. But i guess it was thoughtless of me. my apologies to all. I will live in a tent, as long as I have shelter for my rides & guns. Thanks for the props. That's my 5th turbo Buick.

if the TM has what you are looking for, then go for it. Prices around here they are about $1100. i bought a nice pre-owned one for $699 and sold it for $900. I sold it because i was moving to semi-custom's and already had a TGO-1 to fill the same role as the TM.

G.Wells....You shoot & ride in style. You definitely will be the most fashionable guy in the poor house. Hey Live it up if you can...why not.

Quack....nice TM...whose grips?

My SA Trophy Match has been super accurate and reliable. My only gripe is that the factory trigger has a ca. 5 to 6 lb. weight. I replaced the hammer, sear, and disconnector with a Frerking Set and have not looked back.

Looks like Monday or Tues is show time........Strange thing, My wife said she'll buy it for me for my birthday....She asks...How Much Is it? I started choking and laughing
