I have recently acquired a Model 120; Series A; .22cal, S, L, or LR; the SN is P8#####. Can anyone tell me the production dates of this designation and series. Appearantly, Savage Arms records were lost in a fire.

The barrel is completely stripped of its blueing and the stock is bare as well;someone started a project that I hope to fiinsh.

    Thank you for your consideration.

You might check with Hoosier gun works or Havlin Sales as a possibility.

    You can google either one.

    Hope that helps.

    From our friend Mr. Google:

Another person's inquiry about the Springfield Savage Model 120

A Springfield Savage Model 120 that was being auctioned.

I have this and it's a great book for any Savage or Stevens owner, but there is nothing in it about the Savage Model 120.

An excellent source of information on Savage rifles.

    More from Google:
.22 S, L, or LR, bolt action single shot, one piece integral barrel and receiver, manually operated cocking piece at rear of bolt, birch hardwood stock, open rear and bead front sight, thousands mfg. for companies such as Sears, Montgomery Wards, J.C. Penny, Cotter & Co., etc. Mfg. 1936-1971.
