Schoolhouse Rock...man, that brings back some memories.
"Lolly Lolly Lolly get your adverbs here..."

Wow.

Biker

Conjunction Junction, what's your function?

GREAT STUFF! Brings back a lot of memories.
I still find myself singing some of these tunes to this day (and I'm 36!)

Thanks for that.

Rob

One of the first DVD's I bought for the kids was the whole School House Rock collection.

I enjoy the 2 about the revolution, especially the one with the women kicking the men out of the house, handing them their weapons while the lyrics "take your powder, take your gun, report to General Washington" play in the background.

Great conversation starters for discussing the origins of the country, and what it was "supposed" to be about vs. what it has become. Hard to keep those discussions age-appropriate, but not impossible.

Huh, remarkable coincidence. We just bought the whole DVD collection for our two kids, and watched them with them the other day. We found ourselves explaining and discussing a lot of pretty deep issues, but the kids were fascinated.

Not politically correct in public school (or on ABC) anymore:

Was there an official edict from "our" public schools or ABC? If so, I can't wait to hear their double-speak explanation.

It doesn't surprise me though, those videos encourage the concept that a free and independent United States is a good thing, and worth using (gasp!) guns to fight for!

Where do I find the schoolhouse rock collection? My 6 year old NEEDS that!
We found it at the local Toys 'R US, but I'm sure you can order it from amazon.com or some of the other retailers. If Blockbuster has a copy, ask them if you can buy it used, they seem to clear out DVD's fairly often, and it's a good way to save some cash if they're selling what you like.

I'm just a bill
on Capital Hill...

We wouldn't want kids to have clue as to how the political process works in this country.

My three year old loves Conjunction Junction & Lolly Lolly get your adverbs.

And Grand pa bought her a .22 Henry's boy's rifle at 8 weeks old!
