Scratches on a Nickle finish how to remove?

Besides the usual Flitz or Mothers Mag Polish, can super fine steel or bronze wool be used on Nickle Plated firearms. Or super fine 3M pads? I am more used to finishing stainless guns.

The metal polishes do bring a shine but do not remove any fine scratch marks.

Any abrasive, no matter how fine, will cut through the thin nickle plating and expose the underlaying copper base plating.

Don't even think about using a Steel-Wool or Scotch-Brite pads on it!

Agree. Only the finest cloudiness can be polished off of nickel plate.
I got two functional guns cheap because Bubba + Buffer burned through the nickel and exposed the copper layer.
