I have a relatively new SIG 229 in .40 (~250 rounds). Went to try the .357 SIG barrel today. It fits in, but the slide won't close. Seems to be stopping about an inch short.
Took it back to the gun store. They tried another .357 barrel and that one almost had to be forced in. We tried my .357 barrel in a used 229 and the slide did close. The owner will be in tommorrow and may have some ideas. The guy working there thought it might be because it was still 'new'.
