This is a difficult decision, but I don't see the P229 as that much smaller than the P226.

I voted for the P229. The specs do not seem like it is much smaller than the P226, but when carrying it, the P226 seems bigger. I have a P229 .40S&W and I have compared it to my friends P226 9mm. I still would love to get an all German P226 though. I have been trying to talk my friend out of one of the 3 he owns, no luck so far :banghead:.

229 is not that much smaller, and not that much lighter -- I'm liking my 250 for carry and my 226 for home defense. The 229 is right in the middle :(

226.

I have one friend with a 226 and another friend with the 229. I like the 226 a lot more. The 229 was too bulky for my hand.

Your best bet is to go to a shop where you can look at and hold both together, and decide from there. If you can shoot them, even better. They really are not that much different size wise, but they do each have a different feel. Carry wise, I seriously doubt your going to know the difference if someone picked one up and stuck it in your holster without you looking.

I voted 229. I can’t explain what it is/was but I knew the 229 was the “one” the first time I held one. It is the pistol I want in my hand if I need a gun in my hand. Please note I said my hand. Try to handle and shoot both, they have subtly different feels. (AK103K said it better.)

There should be a P228 option. That is the one to chose. Better balanced than the P229.

Ditto on the P228 option. Price, the P226 is better than the P229. Size, the P229 is smaller. But, if you're talking 9mm, the P228 is the more logical choice for this poll. For .40 and .357 SIG, the two choices would then be the P229 and P226.

Actually I did not include the P228 because it is not in production. Plus I don't think it's as strong as the P229 in terms of +P capability.

My Sig P229 in 9mm is the most accurate handgun I've ever shot. Period.

I would love to buy it's big brother, the P226.

I believe the P229 could/would do any job the P226 is capable of.
