Hello,

I am in the market for a single shot rifle for my fiance'. I am thinking a .223 would be a nice round for her. I already have alot of Wolf 5.56 so I figure why not just get something that can handle the added pressure of the 5.56 and we can share ammo. She is left handed and if the single shot rifle could also be made to fire 20 gauge shells with a barrel change that would be a plus.

Any reccomendations?

the nef or the rossi combos will both do it, however the top choice would be the Savage F models, they come as a over/under setup, with a 223 and I think a 20 gauge on the bottom. Or even better, if you can find a m6 survival rifle, setup in those cals, man those are super cool....

Remington imports a SS 223 from russia (i think) that sells for around $250.00.
The barrels don't interchange but that shouldn't be that big of a deal if your hunting. Who wants to lug around a second barrel and two types of ammo.

I have run lots of .233 AND 5.56 surplus through my NEF Handi-Rifle. It shoots both of them just fine.

FWIW I have the 24" bull-barreled Ultra-Varmit, but I'm pretty sure the standard NEF will eat both, too.

NEF it is then. Hopefully I can find one without a bull barrel without too much trouble. Everything I want is bull barreled in Houston for some reason.

Thanks for all your help guys and gals!
