Smith & Wesson customer service is a bit off

    December 2007 I bought a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm full size. I purchased the gun with a the $50 rebate and 2 free magazines promotion. I've received a total of 6 magazines, but only 2 of those magazines are for a 9mm M&P.

    Here's the story:

    When I filled out the rebate, I put the serial number of my M&P as well as specifying that I wanted 9mm M&P magazines. Should be easy right?

    About 3 months after I mailed in the rebate, I received the $50 check and 2 magazines. Trouble is the magazines were for a 9mm Sigma rather than a 9mm M&P. So I called up CS and they paid for shipping to send the incorrect magazines back. Mistakes happen, so no big deal.

    About 4 months after I sent back the Sigma magazines I finally received my 9mm M&P magazines. 7 months total, but it's fairly understandable considering the M&P is a new product.

    Today I received another 2 magazines for the 40 S&W M&P. I'm not sure why they sent me these :confused:

    Maybe Smith & Wesson will keep sending me free magazines for guns I don't own :D

    I'm not necessarily upset, but it seems like their customer service is a bit off if they can't figure out the difference between the 9mm Sigma, 9mm M&P, and 40 S&W M&P.

    we could be kind, give them the benefit and assume they have the same lazy guy in the warehouse making these repeated mistakes through his carelessness? Still, frustrating for you - I would hope upon your latest contact with them they take some extra step to ensure you remain a contented customer. When I get wrong orders in rather dumpy fast food places I sometimes get either 1) a genuine apology or 2) some cold fries I didn't really want but understand as a gesture from the manager person if they observe for some reason. (Though I notice its seldom a genuine apology, with concern and some 'bonus'. The worst is when they somehow blame you. What were you thinking in sending in your paperwork for your promised free magazines to match your new purchase. Hope that doesn't happen. rant done.

    wow, that's a long wait time in and of itself for the incentive.

    Sounds like you got a couple free mags you can sell for $40-$60 bucks...not a bad deal!!!

    S&W got really backed up on the free mags.

    By the way, I have had fantastic customer service from S&W. They turned my gun around in about a week and threw in free Trijicon night sights and a magazine!

    Well...do the .40S&W mags work in your 9 (i.e. are the feed lips close enough they'll hold and feed rounds)?
