Sold my Glock Gen 4 17 and got a 30 SF, what a difference!

Not that I was unhappy with the Glock 17, its a very good gun. But as I also have other 9mm pistols i figured go ahead and trade it in for a bigger caliber. I was torn between the 21 SF (that's a big honkin gun folks) and 30 SF. As I got to the store the 21 SF was sold out but I realized the 30 SF was exactly what I was looking for. Lets face it, its not a small gun by any means but much more manageable that a full fledged 21, for sure. And 10 instead of 13 rounds, no biggie either (plus you can use the 21's mag in a 30 if you really want to).

To summarize, a 45 glock is a hellofa gun! MUCH MUCH better than a 9mm. Like a 22 compared to a shotgun (slight exaggeration here). After one visit to the range I dare say more accurate too, even though the barrel is shorter on the 30SF than my old 17... go figure. Anybody else have the same experience?

I'm really close to getting a 21sf, but a lot of people are singing the praises of the 30sf.

I went looking for a G19 and ended up getting the 30SF.
I had Glockmeister install their stock competition trigger package, and night sights. It is sweet!! A couple of G21 mags and I was good to go!! Only now I have to get into reloading because .45 is so expensive!!

Glocks are great guns. I have a 17, two 19's a 20 and 21. I like the 17 fine, but seemed to always gravitate towards the 19's in 9mm. The size just seemed RIGHT. I suspect that the similar sized G30 has a lot to do with you liking it better. I ended up giving the 17 to my son when he moved out.

I've been tempted several times to get either a 29 or 30 to go along with the 20 and 21 I currently have.

I have the G21 and 30 SF... both are very nice...

But for carry, I prefer the G19. I think the G19 is the perfect combination of size and firepower for concealed carry.

My G30SF is one my favorite guns and some folks will say the most accurate Glock out there.

I have the standard G30 as well as G19. Both are great guns.

I love the G30 but I could not abide the finger grooves. The grooves are not bad in the 9mm but the fatter grip of the .45 made them intolerable to me. Rather than get rid of a gun I really like, I took a Dremel to those finger grooves. Now it fits perfectly. Life is good.

This is the reason I ended up with the SF. I have big hands but the grooves on the standard 30 just didn't work for me, like my finger wanted to rest on the high spot instead of in the groves. The SF fixed that problem and fits even my large hand very well.

Congrats My first Glock came about similar. I went in to get the slim 36 .45 and walked out with the 30 .45 . The 30 felt better in my hands as my hands are on the large size. I often heard the 36 recoil is felt more than the 30 also and less accurate. The 30 is often touted as Glocks most accurate pistol and I can attest to that as its nearly as accurate as my Sig P220 Combat with 5" barrel. Comparing a Glock to a Sig in accuracy says a lot.

I agree with you guys on size. I had a G30 but wanted a 10mm as well. Traded in my G22 and got a G29SF. Glock calls these guns subcompact but they are much closer in size to the G19/G23. I can use these guns for carry and HD. No more separate guns for SD or HD. For HD I slap in the full size mags with A&G spacers giving me full size gun capacity and use the 10 rounders for carry.

The G30 is a sweet shooter for sure

I picked up a G21SF RTF2, after shooting a Friends G30! The G30 was such a good shooter that I wanted a fullsize, and wasn't dissapointed. The 21SF actually fits my hand better than my old G19 did, the extra bit of width doesn't bother me at all, and spreads out the recoil. Us 45 shooters definately need to handload to do any volume shooting

I love my G30. I've never had a jam or failure in about 1,000 rounds of factory ammo, so far. It doesn't like light target handloads, though, so for reloading, I keep as close to factory specs as possible with 230gr. bullets. For cheap practice, I got a .22 conversion unit for it. Both the .45 and the .22 have proven to be very accurate.

You are correct, the G30SF is virtually the same size as the 19/23...

I share your enthusiasm for .45 ACP Glocks. The G21SF is the most reliable and accurate (in my hands) of all my Glocks, using factory ammo. It makes me wonder why I hear the oft-repeated nonsense that "Glocks are best in 9mm."

I just picked up a Gen 2.5 model Glock 30 today. I didn't like it when I first picked it up, but for $350.00 w/ night sights I couldn't pass it up. The more I have played with it tonight the more I like it. It's a good companion to the OD Glock 21 of mine and the OD Glock 17 I am picking up tomorrow. I'm drinking the Glock kool-aid pretty hard these days. I used to hate them.
