'solid' .30-30 bullets?

I'm interested in reloading for my 336.

Where can I find solid bullets (170-180gr.)? I'm talking like the Barnes Solids, but it doesn't have to be a high end bullet, more like a completely jacketed soft point.

campbell...By solids I believe Case82 is refering to solid copper bullets. I don't think they are making solid copper bullets for .30-30 yet. At least I haven't seen any...

Find some one who has a hydro swager, they can make solid copper bullets for you. I would be interested in a couple of hundred for my 303 30 contender.

I would hope the person is talking about copper/brass bullets. Micro grove does not handle lead well.

Why they designed the guide gun (45-70) with a different set of lands and groves for a solid lead bullet. Similar to the design of the Glock after market to handle the lead that Glock barrels have problems with.

Barnes might make a bullet that is able to be used in the Micro grove, but they would be very expensive. Not needed in a 30-30 I would think.

The Barnes 150 gr TSX FN is the only solid copper 30-30 bullet I am familiar with.

Berry makes a fully plated 150 grain FP.

Yeah, me too. I would bet he wants to shoot yotes for their pelt, doesn't want expanding bullets to prevent pelt damage.

Any good 150 grain lead boolit will shoot well in a thutty-thutty, especially a RNFP,(round nose flat point). The flat point will cause some shock, if hard cast it won't expand much to create pelt damage.

I cast my own, there are many molds for 30 caliber that are great for 30-30 and deer hunting. I have Lyman and Lee molds for flat nose 30 caliber bullets.

Thats what .223 fmj's are for. I wouldn't think you would go yote hunting with a 30-30 not much range. As far as bullets a hard cast wont expand much. I always likes remington core lokt for cheap jacketed fodder. Thats what I use in my 45/70 for jacketed bullets.

Lots of spitzer out there in fmj that will do the job I would think. Just cant have um in your tube magtwo in the mag when you lever in you have one shot and feed um by hand. Leaves you with a two shot LOL

Ah. Hmmm, full jacket, and cheap? Not that I know of. A-Square makes this 180 grain, but not cheap. Pretty sure Woodleigh also has some kind of full jacket on a .30 cal, but like the A-Square, not a discount type bullet.
