It looks like our paranoia and gun hoarding is paying off. Even after the two horrible episodes we faced, it looks like the liberals are bit nervous to reinstate the dreaded assault weapon ban. I guess they realized we have been pushed around enough. I suppose they will wait until the dust settles to embark in other deviant feats.

This is coming from the super liberal NY Times, so I think its good news. I think an AWB will be delayed longer. The democrats are sweating, they see how vigilant gun owners and conservatives, in general, have become over their gun rights.

This has been a bit of a light shining on my day. However, I know the socialist government in charge will find other ways to circumvent the AWB and limit our freedoms. Taxation, ammo stamping and who knows what other types of regulations they will try to invoke. But perhaps the liberals have learned outright banning of our freedoms isn't going to work for them. I suppose they see that many Americans are not braindead zombies who blindly kneel down to the almighty bereaucracy at a moment's notice.

Fair warning: While I agree with you, I'd bet that plenty of folks here will try to ruin this for you. That's a part of the vigilence which you mentioned as being essential, so there's probably nothing wrong with some degree of pessimism.

Some of the comments are amazing, some are outstanding, still others enough to make ones blood boil over the ignorance displayed. Reading them might help to understand yet again the level to which one needs to hone, craft and discuss the pro side of the RKBA argument.
