SP101 Holsters? What do you use?

Mine works best without

My 2.25" SP101 rides all day every day IWB at 1 o'clock, Hogue grip hanging over my belt, no holster at all, tee shirt or polo shirt for cover. I used to carry a Mod 60 there but used an Uncle Mikes open top holster. The SP101 rode too high with that rig. I tried a few leather holsters and then tried none. None works best for me with my gun and build. To each his own.

Galco

I have two...........
My everyday, working around the farm, riding the tractor, cutting wood,
doing what I need to do is an Uncle Mikes super belt-slide holster,
made out of nylon. If it gets dirty, I wash it off.
It works fine, But it ain't pretty.

For getting cleaned up, going to town, visiting, out to dinner, and such,
I have a Galco high-ride pancake. it's a little nicer holster.
I always wear a belt holster. I like my Wranglers jeans tight.
Not comfortable with inside the belt rig.

Everybody has their own comfort level & price level.
you might have to try two or three, before you find one that's
"Just Right".
At's part of the Fun.........

I don't have an SP101, but my taurus 605 uses the same holster. Bianchi Black widow. Rides high and tight, but you need to wrap the belt around the outside, this makes it work even better. Don't even know it's there. The picture isn't mine, but the one that sold me.

JJMAC: See Eric over at www.hbeleatherworks.com He posts here under the handle PCRCCW. Way too many variables for me to give you an off the cuff recomendation. 15 minutes on the phone and I could get you steered the right way. Typing as slow as I do it'd be next week.

Also DO NOT forget you'll need a good gun belt as well.

And, since no one else has yet: WELCOME aboard.

I second the good gunbelt. That is IMO as important as the holster. I highly reccomend the Gunner's Alley leather gun belt. It's a great belt for the money. I have worn mine everyday for nearly two years and it's still as good as the day I bought it. You can find them at www.gunnersalley.com As for the holster I use a Milt Sparks Versa Max II. I love this holster for the SP101. It's extremely comfortable and is beautiful as well. The VM II's design places the belt loops far apart rather than stacking them on top of the cylinder so it does not greatly increase the width of the gun.

I use a Matt Del Fatti.
I really like it.

I have used a Mitch Rosen "Workman" (the original tuckable) for years now. Very comfortable and the qualiy and craftmanship completely sold me on his stuff - that's saying something.

I use a Don Hume belt slide at 5:00 or an Uncle Mike's IWB at 1:00, depends on what I'm wearing. Really like them both. Sorry, no pics where I type this.

I agree with shooting on a shoestring

When I carry I tighten the belt one notch, and it disappears into my gut. I also wear a button up shirt tucked in and slip it into my waistband throught the opening in the shirt and button it back up. If things feel dicey I undo one button and I can slip it right out if needed.

I am looking at a Fist kydex ultra thin IWB canted holster though, it fits all my requirements for carry and has some ingenius belt attachment options. Check out fist.com

Made my own, but I also have a LAW concealment systems pouch that doubles as a pocket holster and will handle any small revolver or auto of that approximate size.

I gave one of my home made (tandy leather company) IWBs to my son-in-law who got a short barreled SP101. Fits great, reholster with one hand, comfortable all day. I don't use mine much anymore since I'm pocket carrying most of the time. I'm back to using the LAW pouch. The one I have would be the LCS II 1/2. It's comfortable, secure, one hand holstering, and versatile. I've been using it about 10 years now. It fits in a pocket that's large enough to handle my Taurus M85UL or Kel Tec P11, so I use it for a pocket holster, too. If I decide to go IWB, mid day or something, I could just move it to the waste. It has springs in the top lip and fits over the pants top and under the belt.

I've found nothing beats the Clipdraw for convenience on my SP. Yeah, 'Mexican carry' works pretty well, til you forget and loosen your belt while standing at a public urinal. Not that I would know. ;)

Here is mine from K & D Holsters. It fits great and I love the snaps. (Don't give me a hard time about the trigger being exposed - the gun is not pushed all the way in - I need to take another picture.)

My SP101 2.25 inch .357 resides in a Haugen Leather #104 Horsehide holster.
Of the 3 holsters I have for this weapon I use this one 99% of the time. :)

Uncle Mike's pocket holster, in right front pocket works for me.

If I'm going to carry on my belt, I go with a full size 1911 IWB.
