Stevens Visible Loader?

    Greetings All,

I've been searching this site (and others) for information regarding the Stevens Visible Loader model 70 and issues other members have encountered. To that end, I haven't come across a situation quite like mine. My rifle will seldom lockup tight when you cycle the slide. I know that the action lock is worn out and needs to be replaced. What I haven't been able to determine is whether there is another component that locks the breechblock? Is there someone out there smarter than me on this model that could maybe help me answer this question? Reason being, I don't want to order the action lock and then find out that I need something else as well.

Note: I will be working on my profile stuff later but just wanted to get this question out there.

I know they were called Stevens Miserable Loaders back in the day if that helps any.

I don't know much about them, and have probably only worked on one or two in the last 50 years.

But I'd say if the action lock is worn out, replace it and see what happens.

It only has one action lock as far as I can remember.

rcmodel, thanks for the reply and I see we are both from the same general area. Yes I can appreciate the "Miserable Loader" moniker but there is something that kind of draws me to it. Here's a picture of mine. On the bottom of course.
