Sorry about the shortness of the post, but work calls. I'll try to write a little more when I have time, in the mean time I though people might like to discuss this.
Reading this in today's paper (Sunday the 1st), I learned about anti social behavior orders. Now to me, this sounds like something they thought was a good idea, then when it was implimented was found to be an failure.
What wikipedia had to say about them.

Unfortunately, I've got to cut it short and head off to work, but this appears to me to be an excellent way to suppress (or should that be oppress) a population, useing the framework of mostly existing laws. I'm somewhat surprised that your pollies in the USA didn't come up with it.

    Un-Freakin' Believable........:barf:

Should have done daily full-blown Lu`au, including the pig roast. Then claim discrimination against native Hawaiians if someone complained

This is just jaw-droppingly, mind-numbingly stupid.

If you WANTED to devise a law guaranteed to set neighbor against neighbor, this would do it. Good God. They've turned government into "big mommie" and are now trying to turn every resident into children acting like 5-year-old tattletale snitches.

Thank pop (RIP) for getting the hell outta there and meeting mom in California.

    They brought it on themselves

The overall population of the British Isles deserve this!! I don't speak for the freedom lovers but the general population.

We bailed their A_S!! out of WW2 after they disarmed their citizens, I mean SUBJECTS in the mid 30's. And remember, they ARE subjects.

They get what they allowed to happen to them.

Go ahead and flame me for being non P.C., I don't care. And yeah, it will happen here as there are more of "them" than us.

Note to self: this is what happens to a disarmed society :(

I heard that a 13 yr old boy received an ASBO for playing the bagpipes in his yard  He also performs at events and even teaches the pipes in school.

I suppose the next step will be execution of PWDFI *

Freaking idiots must have read Orwell and drawn entirely the WRONG FREAKING CONCLUSIO!!!...talk about cognitive disconnect ...Swampsniper back there is right. When you stop and think, that's really where all of the "hate crimes" and "speech code" type stuff here is pointed. I guess the Brits are just a little ahead of the curve.
But,hey;they should be.Ever since the Home Office bureaucracy assumed more and more of a reach, the Labor and Socialist fools had the administrative machinery in place just waiting for them to get their hands on the steering wheel. Not that the Tories are much better;much like our own GOP, they have their own RINO equivalent (TINO's,anyone??)

it was invented to short circuit the expensive and tortuous process of the complainant obtaining, and subsequently enforcing, a civil restraining order against the party(ies). Now it's being used by people who want to further their petty mean-spirited complaints, like the bagpipes.

MkVII,I've not been to the UK or Ireland in a lot of years.I complain about the screwed up state of Masachusetts;you guys seem to have had your local and national gov't borrow a copy of the Massachusetts Lefty Playbook, and take it to heart.
any chance at all of the Tories growing a pair,or of a third party that actually would reduce the Statism that's taken root in your patch of the world?

not a chance. The new Tory leader seems determined to swing the Conservative Party to the Left and embrace Heathite policies from the 1970s, specifically disowning Thatcherism.
From our perspective all your parties seem much further to the Right than any of ours, even your ever-so-slightly-left-of-centre-with-a-teeny-little-social-conscience Democratic Party

At state level, even when we get Republicans in office;too many of them suddenly become "moderate " upon assuming office.Very few are stand up guys,no matter what the campaign promises and blather stated.
Its becomming (become?) a question of whether we wish to go over the edge of a cliff at 100mph or 55mph...or voting for the one that steal less of our earnings and ignores fewer portions of the bill of Rights. It could be worse, but it could definitely be better!
