Gun owners who actually know about guns have played defence for too long and have tried to simply keep the status quo, while lefties who want to disarm us unite with people who are scared of guns. This group tries to enact "common sense" gun laws that do NOTHING to solve any problems, but are aimed at disarming legal and decent people.

It may be time to stop playing defense. We need common-sense gun laws, proposed by people who actually understand firearms and the process of owning them in this country. Common sense laws that will actually prevent mass killings.

The first "common sense" gun safety bill that will actually have a positive impact is federal elimination of "gun free" zones. We need to propose a bill n Congress that will eliminate gun-free zones that do nothing to prevent the killer from bringing in a firearm, but do stop responsible citizens from being able to defend themselves.
While we have a pro2A congress, it is time to pass this Bill. Let POTUS veto it, we can always stage a sit-in and a protest.

The public needs to be aware: responsible gun owners and organizations who actually know about firearms, like the NRA and GOA, the "experts" if you will, are actually trying to pass laws that will help stop mass killings.
It is POTUS and the Lefties who are stopping them.

Let us make this an issue for the next Presidential campaign.
:)

I agree that would be nice, but as long as the liberal media continues to portray the NRA and responsible gun owners as stubborn, terrorist-arming rednecks, public opinion is unlikely to change with the left-leaning populace. I have been noticing that the trend on media outlets like NY and LA newspapers is changing. 10 years ago, a gun debate would be one poor gun owner trying to defend his position against 10-20 hopolophobes. Now, it is 1 gun-control advocate being educated by 10-20 gun owners on the benefits of a polite, armed society. How this equates to the general public as a whole, and how this weighs in on the electoral standing remains to be seen. It seems as though both sides are trying to make their respective positions VERY clear, even so far as to make it the central theme of their entire campaign, so there should be no doubt as to public opinion come November.

Sounds great. But there aren't any laws that will prevent mass killings. The killers, whether crazed or terrorists, by their intent, are criminals. This may sound harsh, but the fact those people chose to attend a gun free zone, meant they were aware that their safety was in the hands of someone else. I'm all for abolishing gun free zones. But that has to be accompanied by a desire to protect ones self.

I doubt anything will truly impact the number of shootings. The mass media seems determined to make the killers into all but heroic figures and if they are Islamic terrorists as several have been of late, the media just ignores that.

Until we admit it is just plain evil we are dealing with, regardless of whether it is Islamic evil or run-of-the-mill evil, we won't get anywhere.

The "gun free zone" signs only affect permit holders.

Study after study has shown that the crime rate by permit holders is less than the crime rate among the general population.

They are banning the wrong people from their zones.

The problem is logic. We have it, they don't. Never in my life have I seen something so stupid as what is going on in congress right now. 49 dead, 53 wounded and the left wants gun control. And our attorney general says the best way to combat terror is "Compassion, unity, and love?" Well.... I have Compassion for the 49 casualties of war in Orlando. We should have Unity to destroy radicals. And I Love living, so I think I'll keep my first and best means of preserving my life.....my whistle.

The issue that has always concerned me is these secret lists they have. Get on one and you cant get off. Cant fly, lose gun rights. I can Imagine ending up on one because you vocally challenge the government. Ive heard the NRA called a terrorist organization in the past by leftests. We are living in unsettled times.

We are living in dangerous times all right -- and Hillary will appoint Supreme Court justices who will give the Government Carte Blanche to dispense with the Constitution.

I don't see any practical planning taking place on what we might practically do and that's what we're about in AD, not hand wringing.

So, anyone got any practical ideas fomenting that need some fleshing out?

The problem for me is who gets to define common sense gun control laws. My observation of late is common sense of any type is sorely lacking nowadays

We have bought into the false logic that laws keep us safe. This always has been false and probably why we have so many lawyers. The threat of retaliation for wrongs committed on ones person or our communities is what keeps us safe. When we allow predators to run free we are asking to be hurt. Take away guns, knives, ball bats, etc. Ever hear of fire, automobiles, chain saws, ied's, bricks....

Practical planning....... Yes. I plan on never surrendering my Constitutionally Protected RIGHT to keep and bear arms. And by doing so, I also plan to never be a victim. To me, a victim is someone incapable of defending themselves. And as far as I know, no one in Orlando was incapable. They simply didn't plan on anything happening and chose to attend a recreational setting that was a gun free zone. My heart really does go out the the casualties of this war we are fighting. But I still have to shake my head and wonder when people are going to realize that the evil exists everywhere. And you can't always run to safety.

When I go to a restaurant, first thing I do is scan the room. I find the exits. I find the closest, best cover. I never set with my back to a door. I don't sit next to a wall. And I scan the room and doors while I'm eating. Not like a tweeker looking for cops with my head on a swivel. Just short quick scans. Some friends, who weren't really into firearms before me, noticed this and asked me about it one day when we were eating. So I played out (verbally) a scenario of an active shooter. Without allowing them to turn their heads, I asked where the exits were, closest cover, would they pile to the exits like everyone else and get jammed up in the exits? What would they do then? They all died. I explained it wasn't an issue of paranoia. It was an issue of preparedness. If it never happens, then I never have to worry. But IF it happens, I just might save my life and the lives of those around me. And guess who CCW's now? Guess who doesn't sit with their backs to the door? Who scans the room? Knows the exits? And the best cover? Yes, they do. Ignorance isn't bliss. And obliviousness is deadly.

How many times have I said, WORK for good candidates? If we can elect OUR people, the anti-gunners go away.

Any misuse of firearms is already illegal.

There are something like 18,000 federal firearms laws on the books already.

Very very few of these laws are actually being enforced. Enforcing the laws already on the books and getting rid of the ones that don't work or have never been enforced is common sense gun legislation, not further eroding constitutional rights for law abiding citizens.

Just my .02,
LeonCarr
