Yep, welcome to the current state of things. Hopefully the AWB doesn't get through congress.

One thing out of this crisis; we're seeing just how much those "A" ratings by the NRA are good for....Know your representatives and the candidates people and make up your own mind.

I guess she's never seen Jerry Miculek empty a revolver, reload and empty it again in less time than it takes most people to reload a magazine. 12 shots in 3 seconds including reload.

WHAT WITH ALL THESE PEOPLE . They sure like you money and then support. Then you get knife in back when comes to standing up for your rights.

My apologies for potential thread hijacking, but I'd like to respond to a trend I've seen in a lot of discussions lately.

I'm having concerns as to the efficacy of arguing against high-cap mag bans by asserting that there's little or no difference between lots of low-cap mags and high-cap mags due to the speed at which one can change mags (or in this specific case citing the speed and skill of a professional as a reason that revolvers can be just as fast as semi-autos).

Since/if this is the case, it would seem that the logical response from the other side would be to immediately go for all mags, and if revolvers can be reloaded so quickly those as well. Am I missing something?

I would say so. Consider the number of revolvers going back to say, 1905 or 1918 to present that are still fully functional. They are too widely held for a legislator to survive in office after the next forthcoming elections in 2014 and 2016. I suspect some of them are in trouble right now. Add to this pistols with less then a 10 round capacity and things would get really interesting.

Kay Bailey has always been a wishy washy 2nd amendment defender. Good riddance and a big Texas smile that Ted Cruz will be taking that seat in January!

If she's on her way out, her opinion matters very little if she's hitting the unemployment line in a couple weeks, correct? Not like she'll get the chance to vote on anything that comes in the new congress.

If my Senators supports such... I will do everything in my power to make sure he is not re-elected. Guns is the only single issue that will tilt my vote one way or the other.

Good for you!! And you represent a big problem gun control advocates have. Most of the people that support more regulation care more about other issues when it comes to voting. Gun rights folks are much more likely to be single-issue voters, and with them this is "THE" key issue.

Yeah, because the average gun owner is just as good as Jerry Miculek.

Anyone ever hear of a Saturday Night Special?

No guns are off the table for these people... including revolvers.

PS - Not sure if comparing a professional "trick" shooter to the abilities of regular people. It is the extreme views and opinions that cause both sides to be disregarded.

That being said, the libs proposal also falls under the category of "What you been smoking willis?"

I think the Jerry Miculek comment leads people like me to fight all such legislation.

Basically, I know very well that the only way to fix the problem that the grabbers are going after is to eliminate legal private gun ownership. An 870 loaded with #4 buck would destroy tons of innocent people in a shooting spree. Given that reality, I do view all this AWB talk as "The Camel's Nose Under the Tent" and will fight it.

The grabbers don't really know what they want yet in terms of negotiating gun restrictions. As soon as they get another victory, they'll realize they need more.

skeptical_in_Ohio is exactly right. References to how fast an expert that is first in world class shooting can do this or that HURT us. There are plenty of smart Antis who will happily say that "You can use a revolver to defend yourself. Look at XXX and tell me that you need one of these high capacity magazines! We're not violating the 2nd Amendment, we're just limiting criminals."

Oh, the anti-gunners know what they want. They are trying to offer seemingly acceptable restrictions. Then, they will push for more.

As has been said, they are willing to eat the elephant one nibble at time.
