Walther P22 Feeding Issues

The newer magazines have a "B" at the end of the serial number. My B magazine has been flawless, but I get lots of feed issues with my older A magazines.

Mine feeds CCI Mini Mags and Federal Auto Match flawlessly. Those are the rounds I use when teaching new shooters. Federal bulk work pretty well, but I get 1-5 failures to eject out of every 550-round box. I don't mind a few minor problems to save $. Federals are weaker than Remmington Golden Bullets, and fail to cycle the slide on occaision in both my P22 and Buck Mark. Remington Golden bullets have caused numerous feed jams in my P22, and I get too many misfires with them.

P22 Mods: I rounded the trigger bar ears , chamfered the lip of the barrel, and applied Blue Loctite to my safety to keep it from "walking". The hammer/safety profiling mods in the P22 bible are just too sketchy for me to try. I polished the barrel hood and muzzle for cosmetic reasons. I also elongated the slot in one of my A magazines using a Dremel, but found no improvement in magazine function. I recently fashioned a recoil buffer using poly tubing in an attempt to keep my slide from cracking again. Go light on the Stingers...

I purchased the Walther P-22 in November and used it for the first time in June. Bought 500 rounds of Remington Thunderbolt 22-LR. The first 50 rounds went off without a hitch. The next 150 were nothing but trouble. Every 4th shot failed to cycle the slide. Got disgusted took the gun home, cleaned it thoroughly and then found this forum. I used it for the 2nd time this weekend. Shot 300 rounds of CCI Stingers with absolutely no problem at all. The ammo made all the difference.

Hope someone finds this helpful.
