What can you say about the Norinco JW25 .22LR, Mauser 98 look-alike?

I want one of these. Is it worth the space in my safe? I'd like to hear comment on its accuracy, fit and finish, overall quality.

I have a Norinco 22 rifle I got about 20 years ago. Looks like a clone of the CZ rifle. Think I paid $119 for it and you could buy 2 extra mags for $10 with the gun and I got those, too. I believe mine is stamped JW15.

I like mine a lot. Very sturdy, reliable, and good shooting. The quality of the finish isn't going to rival a Browning at this price but I find it a nice shooter.

wood is usually bambo, and inletted with a butter knife or chocolate bar, by Ray Charles even more blind brother. the top rail can be as straight and as consistent as a piece of well cooked spagetti. however, the rest of the metal, bbl, action, etc., will be very good, and very accurate, and they will run with the cz's and such...

I am not familiar with the JW25 specifically. My JW15 is a pure sporting rifle with a light colored stock that is fitted and finished quite nicely as opposed to the opinion expressed previously.

Yes basically, the JW25s are pretty much a copy of the Brno No1s & as such it would be hard to find a better pedigree. They are all steel, & all those that I've talked to that have them seem to be way pleased with the way they shoot, the one I had before I got a genuine No1 sure shot well. I'd say the wood work is some sort of stained Hardwood, maybe beech or similar. It can let them down a bit. This pic might help you to decide, I reckon it looks very cool.

I sold one years ago when they were first imported. I wish I still had it. The fit and finish was quite good. As I recall, I ordered it from Navy Arms.

I remember seeing one in a gunshop quite a few years ago. It was the same model as shown in the pic from shinz, looking like a miniaturized Mauser 98. As I recall they were asking around $120 for it, but I was a little concerned about parts availability and service, so I passed on it. For a Chinese import at the time, I was rather impressed with how well made it was.

Thank you for the replies. A local store has 3 NIB for CAN$190.00. Should have bought one in Dec. 2007 when they were on sale for less than a hundred.

I have one of these rifles. The machining of the action is a little rough, the safety is so stiff as to be inoperable, and the bolt has alot of movement within the action. All that being said it is a fun gun to shoot; accuracy is fair but can vary from one group to the next. I have shot a verified .44" group at 100 meters, then backed it up with a 2 1/4" group!! If you put a scope on it as I have done you will need fairly tall bases. Mine wears a 3-9x Tasco, can't remember who made the bases/rings. I purchased mine for $140Can. delivered to my door.(Got a deal from a friend!!) Hope this helps!!

I got one for my 18th birthday. It's a great rifle. As others have said, the action is a clone of the CZ. The K98 lookalike has a very nice heft to it and it's a lot of fun. CZ 452 mags are interchangable, although it looks a little strange with the 10 rounder sticking down.
