What holster should this guy get?

Guy looks out the window and sees someone unfamiliar walking up the driveway towards the front door of his house. Guy wants to arm himself quickly just in case while walking to answer the front door but keep it concealed.

The guy wears this around the house but always with a belt.

The guy wants to slip the holster under the untucked t-shirt inside the waist band at the 3 or 4 o'clock position so it would be nice if the grip was slightly canted forward. It would also be nice if the holster was leather and had a backing that covered the whole contact surface with the skin so it wouldn't be too cold or sharp. Also being able to clip over a belt quickly, not fumbling with snaps is preferred.

What do you recommend for this guy?

I would have my Colt Agent/Cobra in my front pant pocket. I would look like Mr. Casual with my hand in my pocket when I opened the door...no holster required.

    Gun in hand

I CCW around the house but as I dont have the faith in my combat skills that I did a few decades ago - I go with answering door with left hand and the right is behind me with gun in it ,finger OFF trigger obviously.

If any get past me then the wife is at risk and that is NOT an option.

I can still do a fast speed rock and I practice it at range often, can unload a 14 round Glock in a couple of seconds accurately.

I have often worn a S&W 442 around the house in pocket carry, its fast and snag free.

If this guy is not wanting to be carrying around the house, but just slip a gun on while he checks the door, either pocket carry, or use a paddle holster that he can just slip on. Most everything that you will use to carry IWB will take too long to put on just to answer the door. I say just carry OWB and let the button down shirt cover it.

Something like this: Comp Tac Paddle Holster

It will slip on, and then slip off. Pretty convenient if you ask me...

I'm not sure where you got the picture of me, but I really like my Fobus paddle holster. Try wearing a tucked in tank top under your t-shirt in order to eliminate the holster/skin contact.

I believe he favored a shotgun.

As allaroundhunter says, IWB isn't the best solution for this situation. IWB is used when absolute concealment is necessary. For at-home use, OWB is the better solution. You could even just wear an empty OWB holster while keeping the gun in it's "night-time" location, and only holster the gun when you are going to answer the door if you don't want to lug the gun around inside the house. This avoids having to deal with the holster at all.

I'd think a single clip IWB (especially a kydex holster) would be easier to put on than just about any paddle holster.

Galco Jackass holster all the way. That is a shoulder holster by the way.

I prefer ITW unless wearing a jacket. I just got a new one from Leather and Stuff, leatherandstuff.com, and couldn't believe the quality and custom work for $85 shipped:what:! I've acquired many holsters over the years (Galco, Hume, DeSantis etc.) and this is my first truly custom and I can't believe how nice it is.

    For what its worth

I was an LEO and wore a gun 24/7,as I still do.

I own MANY holsters for many handguns and yes I carry them .

For deep concealment I am in favor of IWB,and yes I am overweight too.

But the IWB that is pictured above by TAKtical is a GREAT way to carry in all weather and ESPECIALLY in summer.

I wear a 'wife beater' as an under shirt and then a 'T' shirt [ loose of course ] and it will hide well enough that those that know I am healed will ask if its an 'ankle wear' day.

    Just an fyi .

btw - I am ordering one from him !.
