Whats a good price for a s&w 586 nickle 4 inch

    Assuming the piece was in excellent condition cosmetically, there were no timing or lock-up issues ... I would pay that -- for my region, that would be a reasonable price as the nickel finish was discontinued in 1991, so you'd have a nice pre-lock, pre-MIM revolver.

    Fjestad lists the 586 at 650 in 100% condition, add 5-10% for nickel and $4 for the WO rear sight.

    The last two nickel 586 guns I bought, both in as flawless condition as any reasonable collector could imagine, were both $600 out the door. One is a 4", the other a 6". Both bought last year.

    I would go $600 for an excellent condition 585 nickel. I'd go a bit north of $500 for a perfect blued one (not a new re-issue though).
