East German Makarov - accuracy, reliability, craftsmanship, history.

Unless 9x18mm doesn't count, in which case it would have to be the "red 9" Broomhandle I stupidly didn't buy at a gunshow about six years ago.

A Llama 9mm. Why, because it works and nobody else likes it.:D

In order of purchase over the years:
Taurus 99
P-35 (BHP)
Glock 19
P-06/08 (Luger)
Beretta 92
Mauser C-96
Glock 17
Glock 26
CZ-75b

and then I quit buying and started shooting and comparing. The Glock 19/17/26 all point perfectly in my hands and I usually hit that at which I aim  They are... my favorite shooters.

But when I hold the Mauser C-96 and the Lugers, seeing the little pitting (blood?) in the steel, the smooth worn grip panels (no checkering or grooves left, just smooth wood), I know they've been places and seen things I could only imagine in my wildest nightmares. They've been there, they've done that, they don't need to prove anything to anyone. They are... my favorite collector pieces (in 9mm).

The G-26 goes with me everywhere, everyday.

There's not a bad one among them. But so far, no S&W nor nary a Ruger. Am I missing something? Maybe, but I'm content with the few, the good, the proud (where have I heard that?) that I've managed to squirrel away.

The real problem is keeping them all fed.

Adios

This is a tough one. I have the BERETTA- 92FS and a BRIGADIER. I like the style and feel of of the BERETTAS. Guess I like them the most. But the one that I shoot the best is the SIG P228.Something about that wide sighting plane on the SIG.:ar15:

No question my Sig P228.
Second would either be my 92Fs or the G26.

Depends on what you are asking, really

My favorite 9mm, for carry, is a "chopped" Star BM, 6.2" (cocked, with a beavertail frame tang) for front pants pocket carry. My favorite for practice is an alloy Compact version of the 1911, because of the low cost of practice ammo, and because it handles so much like the .45 belt gun. I see no reason to settle for the 400 ft lbs of energythat a 9mm has, in a belt gun, when it's perfectly feasible to have a controlable gun that offers 800 ft lbs.

Browning Hi-Power. Initially designed by God's prophet on earth, Moses, John Moses Browning.

Second choice, CZ-75. Almost feels as good as the Browning and it has a trigger that rivals the Colt Python - almost.

Up until last week, I would have said a Glock 19. Now I'm convinced that it is a Sig 229 9mm. Fits my hand just perfect. Awesome double action trigger and very accurate. The factory 10 round mags suck. Surprisingly, I have 3 Sig 228 Promags that functioned 100% (and I thought all ProMags were crap).

Right now it's my second gen Glock 17. Of course I would like to replace it w/ a third gen (finger groves) Glock 17. But I've never fired a BHP.

I probably have not shot enough different 9mm handguns to say for sure and certainly haven't owned them all but considering all factors I'd have to put the Browning Hi-Power at the top with the CZ-75 running hard on its heels. The P7 is slick, slick, slick but just different enough for me not to pick it. Having listed some classics, I have to add that the Ruger P95 is very high on my list. The Timex of handguns. The Jeep of pistols. Does everything it is supposed to do without fuss, complaint, drama, or question. But the Hi-Power stands alone at the top of the hill. Oops, you asked why...combination of looks, history, all-steel construction, balance, length of barrel, enough capacity, single-action trigger, feel in the hand, slimness of slide, etc. YMMV

favorite 9mm

Looks like Sig is popular..My choice was the sig p239 9mm, it is light weight and narrow conceals well. It fits my hand like a glove and backed by one of the best handgun manufactures.. I feel confident that if the gun were needed it will perform for me. Confidence goes a long way when you are talking about something that may save your life some day...saving a few dollars on a cheap gun just isn't prudent...
