What's your "fun gun"

You are being very foolish, give me zee the information. Your papers are not in order.

Luger P-08.

I like shooting what most would say are different -Taurus 85 snubbie .38 spl, Browning Belgium Challenger .22 and Kimber Team Match II .45ACP. All at 2" targets at 15 yds. Try to shoot out each of the targets leaving a big hole and no holes outside the targets. Best way I've found to work on trigger, breath and grip controls.

My Norinco 1911.

I've owned many "better" pistols, but the old Nork is like an extension of my hand - see it, point at it, put a hole in it. Comfortable to hold and comfortable to shoot.

Of those that I own, normally, I'd say my Heritage Rough Rider. I like how it feels, handles, and it's usually inexpensive to shoot (current ammo situation notwithstanding.) It's also is a "slow-loader", so it regulates how fast I go through ammunition.

But, if someone were to grab me today and get me to the range with only one gun, I'd select my just-acquired Ruger P95 because I have not yet fired it.

This is a trick question, right? The correct answer is of course "all of them". Right? I don't remember ever shooting one that I didn't think was fun even if it nearly busted my shoulder in the process.

The guns I have that get shot the most are probably my Marlins. I have a 795 that allows me to burn up a box of ammo in about two minutes if I slow down a little. I have a couple of 60's that are also favorites. There's just something about those instructions, "point the gun, pull the trigger and repeat". I certainly like my bolt guns and I plink with them quite a bit but the semi-autos are just fun because there's nothing between me and the next shot except aiming. I have a few pistols that fit that description too. Of all the handguns I own only one is a revolver. And of course you can use the "point the gun, pull the trigger and repeat" instructions with that too.

Plinking is about shooting to me and working a bolt just makes the shooting slower. That goes right on up to my centerfire rifles too. None of my shotguns are semi-auto though. That goes back to my early days of seeing too many jams in the auto feeders. I know things are much better now but pumps are cheaper and they work pretty well if you've spent your whole life pumping them. They seem like a semi-auto even if they aren't one.

It'd either be my SA M1A Scout or my first gen TC Contender pistol in
.44 mag.. Both are just plain fun to play with.

Ummm...all of them!

:D

Seriously, they each have their own appeal and I wouldn't own a gun that wasn't fun to shoot in some way.

Currently, I have enough ammunition to have a fun day with any of my three pistols...my Colt 1991A1 .45 acp, Baretta 92FS 9mm, or AMT Automag II .22 Magnum.

And any of the bolt action .22's or my 12 gauge would be fun, too.

Currently, I could use a day of fun plinking/speed shooting with my Colt, though.

I'd like to find another Navy Arms or Uberti copy of an 1866 or 1873 carbine in 22 cal. The 66 I had was one of the most fun to shoot for me.

Another 1886 Winchester and Colt SAA to shoot black powder loads in would be cool also.

It is never a trip to the range without my .45ACP, so that is what I have to go with.

The 'Lil' Bitch' (Eastern-European nickname for AKSU) can cause much mayhem and destruction. This will be one of the first weapons to be banned.

A gun is a tool I need simply because many others have them. I do not like firearms and using them gives me zero pleasure.

Doubtful that anything will be banned and you are one hell of a party-pooper sir :(

My favorite plinker for the range is usually a Yuko 59/66 SKS with tech sights - shooting steel swingers at 155 yds without a scope is as much fun as anything I shoot.

S&W 67 with hollow based wadcutters. It is the most fun I've had with my clothes on. It is also my first hand gun, and I can't even begin to estimated how many rounds have been through it over the decades I've owned it.

I too, like many others: All of them!
I do not buy a gun just for work....
They must be fun to own otherwise why did I buy them. (I do not "need" to hunt).
But if push came to shove, I really enjoy my lever actions most.

Lateck,

It’s always good to have a gun that shoots better than you can shoot it. Over 30 years ago I bought an Anshutz 54 for a whole lot less than they sell for today.

This is my humbling gun, but the upside is that it gives me an accurate baseline to work on my skills.
