A .45-70 double rifle.....

And I saw one at a gun show!
A beautifuly engraved, with outstanding wood, mint, Westley Richards.

Couldn't quite cover the $42,000 asking price though. :what: :(

A close second would be the Turnbull restored Winchester 1886 in .45-70 I saw at the same show. If I save my pennies that one is a realistic goal some day.

well heheh i am a gijoe collector, so i have many "grails"
BUT- weapon wise- uhhhh,.......
i would like to find {ammo} for a certain device someone i know has but we have never been able to use.

that, and a large enough target.
heheh

Took me nearly 20 years, but I finally found mine about a month ago....a Winchester 52B Sporter (1948) in mint condition.

What's your Holy Grail

It might just very well be this one:

???? Why cant ya get one in Mass?

Because our Attorney General Tom Riley has not deemed them safe enough for the peasants. :banghead: Any handgun sold in MA must be MA compliant AND be on the Atorney General's approved roster and although most handguns are by far safe enough to make the roster most manufacturers could care less if they can sell their handguns in MA and don't bother to submit pistols for testing. (And I don't blame them.)
Here's a quote from Springfield Armory, "WE HAVE NO INTENTION OF GOING THROUGH THE MASSACHUSETTS CERTIFICATION PROCESS because the laws and regulations are not clear".

Here is a page that shows many of the handguns we are not allowed to buy....

So...
The only ways I could get one are if someone moves here from another state and wishes to sell it or if some in MA has owned one since before the rule went into effect and wishes to sell it. It sucks. I don't like it. I vote. I'm active. I own a home in this state and I'm not gonna change things by myself so :banghead: .

Regards
John

First on the [short] list would be a WWII Sturmgewehr 44 - whether or not ammo would be easily available.

I have already promised myself that should I win the lottery, or come into enough money somehow, my only "splurge" purchase would be a Fulton Armory M14 - I intend to get one, someday.

I already have one of my "grail guns," though; and thanks to Century Arms, at a reasonable price. The only relatives that I had that fought on the ground in WWII fought for the Germans, and my family has confirmed that four died at Stalingrad. I now have a [ruskie capture] 98k Mauser that could have been one of theirs.
