Just browsing the 45 image thread and see some PT145s with dovetailed sights. Is this an upgrade by a gunsmith or did they recently change them to accommodate dovetail sights? Mine has the screwed in sights, but mine also has the light rail.

Just wondering if I order night sights whether or not I need to have this work done.

Generation III MilPros, with the SA/DA trigger. And that is SA/DA, not DA/SA. It's always Single Action, since there is no decocker. But if it misfires, there is second strike capability with a DA trigger pull.

I have one of these, and have been trying to find tritium night sights for it, but with no luck. The only Mil Pro night sights I can find are for the older generations with the older sights.

Aren't the dovetail sights a "standard" that fit many guns?

Sorry to hear how difficult is to find night sights for your model, but it does encourage me that it may not be that difficult to find them for mine.

Thx for the input.

They are licensed versions of Heine "Straight-8" sights. Don't know if Taurus modified the dovtails or not. Heine is supposed to be offering night sights for them.

Have you gone over to www.taurusarmed.net and checked on this very subject. Do a check in the gunsmithing section over there and do an archive search on sights and dovetails. The measurements on the Tauri pistols are in there and will give you the right sizes so you can find the right sights to fit if you want to change them. Even some detailed instructions on how to do that are there.Members who are Taurus owners here are over there as well. Thought you folks might like to know and use this as a source or participate. Up to you folks what you want to do. This web site replaces Taurusforum.com that closed due to unfortunate circumstances. Flyer was nice enough and spent considerable time, energy, and know how to give Taurus and Rossi owners a home. There is even an Other Guns board.
