Where can I get bullets?

Ask this over at the NES forum, and ask people to PM you with the info. If someone is careless enough to post the vendor's name in a public post, the mods will remove it.

Good question. I'll answer it.... again.

Like Winnie implied, we have an interesting "political climate" here. A while back, the state AG went after online retailers for selling to Mass residents that were underage or unlicensed (yes, you need an FID to buy ammo and even components in Mass).

Many have argued that the AG over-stepped his authority. He didn't actually do anything (as far as I know) other than send letters to retailers threatening to take action against them if they kept it up.

As a result, to avoid legal hassles, most (but not all) retailers have decided not to ship loaded ammo or components (bullets, brass, primers, and powder) to Mass. The mods on that other forum remove the names of the vendors that still ship to Mass in an attempt to spare them a letter from the DA; and because we would like to be able to continue buying from them.

Before anybody replies to this post, let me try to answer some of the FAQ's ahead of time:

Yup, bullets are just chunks of metal, and yes they are regulated in Mass.

Yes, they can do that.

DO NOT - repeat - DO NOT try to apply logic when contemplating Massachusetts gun laws. Your head will explode.
 
man, it's hard to believe some of the stuff I am learning here.

Assuming it is legal for you to have components shipped to MA and the only reason vendors aren't shipping to MA is because of fear, then just have an out of state friend buy the bullets for you and relay them to you. You'll end up paying the shipping costs twice (assuming the vendor charges you). Considering USPS has the flat rate priority mail box that allows up to 70 lbs (iirc) for $7.70, then that's not too much damage to your wallet.

If you're licensed, there's no reason you can't buy components or even ammo from anywhere. The AG went after online vendors that shipped to unqualified individuals. The fact that he was the one that had these unqualified individuals place the orders is a bit shady, but he did it "for the children". Word travels fast; before long, even places that did not get letters refused to ship here.

I buy loaded ammo from an online source that requires you to fill out a waiver form and send a copy of your firearms license. I assume that this particular retailer figures that this covers them in case of trouble. Other retailers that were either not aware of, or cowed by the AG's threats continue to ship here.

I live ten minutes away from New Hampshire and buy a lot of my ammo and components there. If there's something that I want that I can't get shipped in, I have my NH-residing girlfriend get it for me.
 
Hmm? Isn't Mass. one of the original colonies?

Didn't many of our forefathers leave England because the government wanted to take away their guns? (among many other reasons)

Now it's come to regulation of how many bullets you can have on hand or order? Do they limit bulk lead? Pour your own!

If there are licensed outlets for bullets and components in Mass, aren't there retail options available to you?

Living in a comparably bad political climate to the one in MA, I can relate to your woes. However, there are a number of small manufacturers out here that would probably ship to you.

They sell a number of different calibers, and shell casings. Thier bullets are manufactured on site. I have been down there and taken a tour of thier small factory.

Thier prices vary somewhat from what's posted on the web site. But give them a call.

If they won't ship to you, I don't know if MA has something similar to california's Certificate of Eligibility (to buy firearms, this includes background checks). But if you provide me with a copy of one of these I will ship to you. (This is just a CYA move on my part) You pay shipping, and I'll pick them up.
