Where'd the Cav Arms sticky go?

Hmmm a good question. My guess would be that they decided they shouldn't comment on it in a public fashion at the time.

For many years Cavalry Arms Corporation (“Cavalry”) has strived to manufacture and sell quality firearms to the public. We have always strived to put our experience from the field into making quality products that the average shooter can afford, while still bringing innovations to the industry. We are dedicated to providing the best possible products and customer service to the firearms market.

On February 27, 2008, agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives executed a federal search warrant on the business premises of Cavalry and on the private residence of its CEO, Shawn Nealon. We have immediately engaged legal counsel to resolve this matter with the federal government. Cavalry is confident that all its conduct has been lawful in carrying out its business activities. The Government has yet to share with the company details of the investigation or the cause precipitating the search warrant. Cavalry is cooperating with the federal investigation. To date no accusations of wrongdoing have been filed against Cavalry or any of its employees regarding alleged illegal activity.

While we are waiting for a resolution to this situation, Cavalry Arms will remain open for business and continue firearms operations under its Manufacturer’s FFL. Unfortunately, the federal government seized business files, computers, and inventory from Cavalry during the execution of the search warrant. As a result, Cavalry has been forced to reconstitute its resources, and we expect to be fully operational in the near future. In the meantime, we still carry firearm parts and emergency medical products for sale. We appreciate your patience, and we thank everyone who has shown us support during this turbulent time.

Have you contacted John McCain, John Kyl and your representative?

This is an election year and they should be willing to help get answers. On the information I have been able to find, this is a VERY unusual situation/case. I believe you may need political clout to get a Federal Bureaucracy (BATFE) to budge.

Having McCain respond to this, one way or the other, would be very interesting. For a candidate to openly criticize or embrace an agency of the federal government is no small matter. Those who revile the BATFE would embrace him, those who wish the BATFE took away all guns would become weary of him...

Then again, those who don't revile the BATFE more than likely know nothing about the Cavalry Arms raid... So the risk-benefit ratio is lopsided for McCain...

Perhaps he may help if properly provoked...
 
For better or worse, I just sent this message off to all my Congressmen:
You may or may not be aware of an ongoing situation that has me concerned. I am a customer of a company in Arizona called Cavalry Arms. On February 29th of this year, they were raided by agents of the BATFE. (Cavalry Arms sells numerous items, among which is polymer components for AR 15 rifles.) As a visitor to numerous online firearms forums, I've become familiar with the reputation Cavalry Arms has built up nationwide. The owner is a retired Marine, and it's been my understanding that he has always striven to conduct his business with the highest regard for the law, even to the extent of seeking (and getting) a written opinion from the local head of the BATFE on how best to operate his manufacturing facility within not only the letter, but also the spirit of the law.

According to news sources like ABC and FOX, the BATFE agents served a search warrant, confiscating the company's entire stock of firearms and firearms receivers, including privately-owned firearms that customers had returned to the shop for repair. To my knowledge, no actual arrests were made, and no actual justification for this raid was ever given. It's also my understanding that asset forfeiture proceedings are underway which will transfer ownership of these items permanently away from those I consider to be their rightful owners.

Since I can't find any further news items detailing any charges leveled, or any arrests made, I'm not sure what to make of this seizure and forfeiture. Is it possible for you to look into this matter for me? I'd like to know whether or not the company I've done business with is operating legally. I'd also like to know that the BATFE has a legal and moral justification to seize (permanently) someone's property. If they don't have such justification, I'd like to know that the property held is to be returned, and the owners compensated for any damages to their improperly seized goods. If those goods have been seized improperly, I'd also like to know that those responsible for the improper seizure are punished accordingly, and educated in the proper methods for carrying out the duties which you and I pay them for.

I don't know that it'll do any good, but I don't think it could possibly hurt.
 
maybe someone here will answer why the old thread was removed. I am curious to know why. Obviously if certain comments were to vitrillously (is that even a word?) aimed at the ATF, then say so. I am sure no one wants to risk the smallest chance of getting cav in more hot water but you cannot avoid repeating the problem if you don't know what the problem is.

And maybe we can get a new sticky, to make it easy to check for new information.

Financial terrorism. A very accurate definition of it. The sound of crickets from the nra is deafening. Any other industry or politicized entity that was the victim of such blatant terrorism would have it's supporting groups screaming from the rafters.

If you want the government to behave itself and obey the constitution, YOU HAVE TO USE PUBLICITY. You have to get loud, stir people up, and STAY mad until the government gets scared and backs off. The nra apologists sound like none of that applies. They don't want to deal with the fact that nra is corrupted and not a true friend of the 2nd amendment. I can find no legitimate reason why nra wasn't screaming from the rafters (using ALL it's publications and websites) beginning on the very DAY of this evil raid. The nra apologists will invent reasons to make themselves feel better but the ANTI gunners would not have cowered and wasted a good opportunity like this.

A little while ago Cav Arms sent out requests that their comments on the case be pulled down. The THR thread disappeared the same day that happened, and the thread contained quotes from the stuff Cav Arms had posted on AFCOM.
