I'm looking into a good portable press to take with me to the range to do loads on the fly as opposed to making a batch at home and and then taking them to the range only to find out they suck.

I'm trying to get more information about arbor presses. I found Sinclair's company page, but couldn't find any information on K&M (yet I read that they are good presses). Does K&M have a company page? I didn't see anything on google.

How does Harrell's Precision arbor press compare to Sinclair and K&M? How about their Compact Press?

Just a thought... While you are trying to decide between some of the quality arbor presses, you may want to pick up a Lee Hand Press. For $25 it's a very handy item to build loads at the range. No bench needed.

You may find it will serve your needs just fine.

Good Luck...

Joe

Check over here for more info on the high priced spread: BR Central

For cheap: also consider the Lee bench mounted press for about $15. Screw it to a 2x4, and then clamp it to your bench.

In case you didn't know, arbor presses are for use with hand dies. And since we tend to run sorta high pressures (the moderators would unload a can of whoopass on me if I told you just how much V133 I shoot in a 6PPC - just let me say I use a 12" drop tube and a lot of patience to get it all in the case...), we tend to FL size between firings. Most of us will use a small conventional press for FL sizing, and an arbor press and hand die for seating.

I like all of 'em.

For the mercedes of "take to the range" presses, go to benchrest.com and look for the Hood press. Tell him Bogie sent you.
