Why has the NRA not supported the Filibuster?

Why has the NRA chosen not to vocally support the Paul-Cruz-Lee filibuster?

It sounds like a good tactic for them to encourage all their members to contact their Senators to support the Paul-Cruz-Lee filibuster!

I'm curious why this isn't done and wondering exactly what the NRA and NRA-ILA is doing with the donations that I am now sending them weekly.

I have sent countless emails, phone calls and social media postings in support of the 2nd amendment rights. I have attended fundraisers and either joined or renewed membership in every single pro gun organization that I can find. I have donated to all of these organizations every week or two anything I can spare short of paying the critical bills.

Is the tide of ignorance and repression simply too strong?

I would feel more comfortable if there was stronger leadership and more organized and actionable tasks and objectives for their membership base. Simply writing and calling the Representatives and Senators isn't the way to fight the full court press from the MAIG and big money Bloomberg organizations.

Am I missing something here?

I believe they wanted to see which reps voted in support/opposition to know who to target down the road. I thought this was a little too risky and am glad they will hopefully do a fillibuster.

The NRA does most of their work not in the focus of media and cameras but behind the scenes so don't think just because we're not aware of every move they aren't being active. And I believe the best thing we can do is coordinating with other freedom loving Americans and writing our reps because they are the ones at this point who will make the decisions. The NRA is trying to make sure they know it is their constituents who oppose gun control not just the NRA and gun companies so the more we write/call the better.

If the NRA comments the lib Media will accuse them of orchestrating the filibuster. Better for them to be quiet about this for now.

NRA has developed a huge number of powerful relationships with politicians that they can work in the corridors of Congress, but that they don't need to grandstand or perform for the public. Their success is measured in results and not in how much noise and smoke they make.

This battle is fought along several fronts and putting all their energy in the areas most likely to leave unmendable fences behind would be short sighted.

All we need is just enough Senators to make for an effective fillibuster that meets the current criteria for a fillibuster and not so many that it expends all our energy on one battle in the ongoing war.

We need politicians to be put on the record with votes. Put the US Senate on record. Then watch the US House.

In NY, CT, CO and other states, we know who we need to target in the next election.

Democrat gun owners, you know now who you need to take out in the next state primaries and it looks like in CT, Republicans know who they need to take out in the next primary.

We are learning who our enemies are, what 'friends' betrayed us, work to elect rational legislators and take some of that cash you can't find ammo to spend on to help elect, in the next election cycle, those that support RKBA.

They implied that in those hallways the NRA is once again working on compromise as they did in the past. That didn't work out so well for supporters of the 2A in the past and only serves to embolden those who will not stop until guns are banned from the citizens in spite of our constitutional rights to do so.

True. But it also sounds like typical NRA behavior, so it is very believable. I have watched the NRA do this several times at the state level. One of the reasons I didn't become a life member until very recently was because of their past betrayals and their grade-inflated legislative report cards.

If you think someone else could use your donations better, by all means, send it to them instead.

I trust them enough to think that they know what they are doing, and they know EXACTLY what the situation is and how to time their actions.

NRA knows exactly what they are doing, they are experts at playing the political game. It's best to just let them do their thing, and keep them well funded, they are our best hope at defending our freedoms. Every decision is carefully planned and strategically timed, albeit the national school shield thing was probably a bad call however, they are doing an excellent job and playing things just right.

they are by far the biggest dog in the fight, but as such I donate regularly to all the organizations. I figure from a cost perspective, that it is the same as donating one of my better guns to the cause so that I can freely use the other ones. Heck you can't even buy a decent gun or the components (or even the ammo) today anyway so you may as well put the 'savings' to good use.
