Will 300 Savage seater die work for 308win??

My friend picked up a used 2-die set in an RCBS box labeled 308 win. i discovered that the seater die is stamped 300Sav.(CH) the full-length sizer die is stamped 308 win. RCBS

Will this 300 SAV seater die work to seat his 308 bullets ?

Is there a problem with the 300 Sav seater die for use in his 308win??

Trying it would tell you if it will. I've neck sized and seated bullets in 30-06 with .308 dies.

I have an older Lyman P-A seating die that is marked ".30-06, .308 Win., .300 Savage". My answer is that it will work.

The seater will likely put bullets in the case but isn't likely to do it with the precision requrired for accuracy.

The old Lyman PA seaters were adjustable in four ways, the CH is adjustable in two.

would a 30-30 seater or 30.06 seater work better with more precision than the 300 Sav seater?

NO. In fact, the .300 seater is better than either of those. You really need to get .308 correct seater, not something to 'make do.'
