Winchester for a short time made the Model 70 with the BOSS system. I have
the chance to buy a Winchester Classic Left Hand Model 70 300 win mag. One with the BOSS or one without. I feel the BOSS works well and is a proven design. The rifle without the BOSS is NIB, however the BOSS rifle is 99% and they are both at the same price point. Your thoughts on my dilemma would be welcomed. ( And no I can't afford both :) )

me personally no not if recoild did'nt bother me.I had a browning a bolt with it although it helped recoil was just way to loud

If you want to use the BOSS to fine-tune accuracy fine.

If you want it to be a muzzle brake to reduce recoil, Fugedaboutit!

The muzzle blast with a brake will be far worse then the recoil without it!

If the extra accuracy is worth it to you get the BOSS. I can't imagine anything more fun that all the bench shooting required to dial in the BOSS with a 300 Win Mag, although the brake will help, if they allow you to stay at the range long enough! . :)

Be sure to replace the muzzle brake section with the solid CR section before you take the gun to the field. A 300 WM with a brake is dangerously loud!
