I am thinking about trying my hand at one more AK.
I am not really an amateur with them because I have had 5 in the past. For one reason or another, none of them seemed to suit me. The last one came close but it didn't work right so I was soured on them for awhile.
So anyway, I want another. After I get some money together I am going to be looking for one.
My questions...
Do the Vector and Yugo AK's have chrome lined bores?
Which is better in terms of quality?
What about feed ramps? My last one had no feed ramp and it was a POS. My brother's much cheaper WASR has one and it feeds EVERYTHING so that is a preferable place to start.
Is the gas block on the fixed stock Yugos made for shutting it off to launch grenades? If so, has anyone heard of problems with them (like people have with the Yugo SKS's)?
Any other experience either way would help too.

I can't help with much, except the Yugo's don't have crome lined bores (not the original Yugo barrels or the Green Mountain replacement/US made barrels).

I don't think that's a big deal on non-mil/non-abused rifles that aren't using corrosive ammo (supposedly accuracy is a bit better out of a non-chromed, but c'mon, its an AK and she aint winning the long range sniper match anyhow).

And yes, the gas block on fixed (and underfolders i think, i'll have to dig one of mine out) shuts off the gas for grenade launching. There are some US made muzzle devices that replicate the original grenade launchers.

Finally, my obligatory advice to anyone considering an AK...look at the bulgy milled types.

Thanks. Had an Arsenal SA-M7 once but I like stamped better. It was a great and solid rifle but I wanted a sidefolder (and still do) and I couldn't find a way to put one on it.
