I dont post much here, but I have been looking through this thread for ideas, so I thought I would contribute a little.

My reloading bench is also my work bench in the garage. After one really hot evening of reloading, I told my wife I knew what she could get me for our 23rd anniversary - a new reloading bench in the basement!!! I was tired of sweating my nads off and fighting the bugs in the summer, and freezing my arse off in the winter!

So with the help from all those here, my reloading bench went from this:


To this, a little corner in the basement:


It's a 5' workbench from Sears, and it is very heavy and very sturdy. My son and I ran the wiring behind the bench, and put it all together. The powder and primers are in the overhead cabinet. Not sure what I'm gonna put in the lower drawer unit yet, but I'm sure I'll fill it up pretty soon.

I mounted a LEE bench plate to secure the turret press to the bench. I went this route because I have a Hornady Lock-n-Load AP press on the way, and I wanted to quickly and easily switch between presses.

I will continue to sort and clean brass at the garage workbench, to keep the noise and dust and other particulates out of the house.

One little suggestion about your layout. Move the Fire extinguisher to a location closer to your emergency exit path. Then you can go back to fight the fire rather than battling the fire to get to the extinguisher

I built my smallest portable rolling reloading bench with Harbor Freight tool stand (I bought the stand on sale for $12). Top measures 12"x20" and bottom measures 18"x20".

For top, I used "dry" 2x4s sandwiched between OSB sheets fastened with drywall screws. There is no flex on the top even when I resize the tight 9mm range brass on the C&H 205 single stage press. Bottom is 2x4 frame built with HF small furniture dolly cut in half with OSB as top - The bench rolls well in heavy carpet even though I got a bucket of brass and several boxes of bullets on the bottom shelf. The top and bottom frame are wrapped with denim-like fabric from Walmart ($1.50 a yard) and stapled.

The presses are mounted on top of a plastic tray from the dollar store (used for catching mud from boots) for catching debri and keeping things from rolling off the bench top.

The black tube is the primer collection tube inserted inside the base so each primer falls through the tube without collecting inside the base.

This small bench allows reloading anywhere in the house and rolls into the closet when I am done. I am planning to add fold-up tables to the side of the bench.

The bench is quite sturdy. Even with the top on, I cannot twist the frame with my foot holding the bottom shelf. It is Central Machinery 46725 - Heavy Duty Workstation made with heavy gauge frame pieces that are thicker than my Delta table saw stand. It is rated for 1000 pounds. All the edges are rolled and pressed for added strength and smooth edge finish (BTW, price correction - I meant $19).

At first, I thought about pop-riveting the pieces as they are bolted together (frame pieces have spot welded metal pieces that are threaded), but decided to give the bolts a try first. I have sized and loaded over 10K+ 9mm, 40S&W and 45ACP range brass with no loosening of the bolts. I have resized with the bench empty on carpet and it barely moves. I have also tried the bench on the hardwood/vinyl flooring and it does fine. I normally have a bucket of brass in caliber I am loading and some boxes of bullets on the bottom shelf and it is like using the bench in the garage.

Since I am using Lee carbide dies with no lube for sizing, on occasion a 9mm case won't pull smoothly. I simply put my foot down on the bottom shelf and pull up on the ram lever - no problem.

FYI, since the 2x4s were dry, I predrilled all the holes for the 2.5" drywall screws so they wouldn't split the wood.

Had the Dillon about 10 years. 357, 44 mag & 45acp.
Just bought the Lee single stage about a year ago for 308 and it turns out I use it all the time.




If I ever tidy it up, I'll post another shot

Before I start drilling holes and mounting things, I thought I would get some opinions on how to lay it out. I built a 10' X 10' room. Door on south side middle. 2' wide bench along west side and 1.5' bench on north side. East side is open. I am a long range rifle shooter, no pistols. I have a bonanza, rock chucker and a lee. All single stage. I will get a picture of room in a few days. I wish I could just draw on this thing.
