Howdy, Craiso - welcome to the club.
Howdy, I have not seen one with the adjustable trigger stop anywhere before, it's a one-off modification made by a previous owner. The trigger appears to be much wider than stock too - and the break is perfect. All this suggests someone once owned it that was really into their paper - punching. It has been suggested that it was a custom job by the late Tom Ball, however I suspect it's unlikely to have been subsequently shipped to the UK. More likely I think is that after the 1997 (cartridge) handgun ban here, someone who'd handed in his accurized smith/dan wesson/whatever used the compensation money to accurize the Remmie. Great picture by the way....

Well since I'm the Walker club I guess it's only appropriate that I should be in the Remington club too.
Here's my two... Stainless .44 and blued .36 ![]()

The Mat Grey finish on my snubby is factory. Uberti produced some with their "Millenium" finish. Its a kind of parkerizing. The downside is the gun fouls about 3 times as fast as a blued gun. Whith smokeless its not a problem, but black powder fouling loves to stick on parkerizing.

I have two, one with the 7" barrel and the other with the 5 1/2" barrel. It is a good, solid feeling style of pistol...
Oh, BTW, both of mine are Piettas.

I guess owning at least one Remmy is the only requirement here. Does that means even crazy people such as myself can join the club?? Two Lyman imported Uberti 1861 New Arny 44's

Here is a picture of my 2 Pietta '58s. I took the bluing off to antique them and then treated the metal.

I tend to like the 1858's more so than the Colts although I have my share of Colt open tops. Sure are a lot of purty 1858's in this thread.

1858 and ROA
I belong to both Rem 1858 and ROA clubs.
I was out shooting them yesterday. I noticed that after about 10 shots the Rem would foul up so much that the cylinder would hardly turn. The ROA would still be going strong after 24 rounds. I seems that I had read that this would happening because of the design of cylinder/base pin/forcing cone. It proved itself out. A little moose milk at the front of the cylinder and frame would get me back in the game. Even with this little delay, I enjoyed shooting both guns. |

Opps, I have a picture of ROAs on the other thread. Well, if they start a '51 thread, a 44-40 thread, a derringer thread, then I will just have to cover all bases.

(I still regret selling my ROA actually - it was a stainless one and I let it go for a song... live and learn, huh?) When I started this thread, I wondered if posting one on the Remmie would attract much interest - I am really pleased to have been proved wrong! Someone else can start the '51 Navy thread! lol. |

£600 ($1000 US) Custom Remington 1858
I really, really like this...
http://www.guntrader.co.uk/GunsForSale/080329150606003 But sadly the price is way too high. The appeal of this conversion, (for the benefit of those lucky enough to still live where cartridge guns can be owned) is that it can be used on the many indoor ranges that we still have here in England and somewhat replaces the target revolvers we lost in '97. I don't much like the idea of measuring 3 grains of Bullseye out on the firing point, nor the risk of a double charge, but it is a great looker for sure!
