I already posted this on another board, but I am very happy with how it turned out, and I have to show it to someone. I grew tired of looking at my old bench. I keep it in an extra room in the house, and plywood with 2X4's doesn't look all that classy indoors. I built this one out of solid oak, stained it and put a hand rubbed oil finish on it. It is VERY solid and looks much better. It turned out well considering I only have a cheap jigsaw and sander for power tools. This pic is before it was loaded up with stuff. Going to build some shelves next.

Well, I finished this about a month ago. Home Depot had the unfinished sink base and cabinets on sale. The bench top is 2x4's screwed and glued together in a sorta butcherblock idea, with 3/4" cabinet plywood screwed to the bottom. It's SOLID! I dovetailed a slot into the top and trimmed with red oak for durability on the edges and interface. My trimmer, measure, primer, etc are mounted to 1x6 oak to slide in and out of place. I reinforced the crap out of the sink base and ripped some 2x6's for the riser to get the bench top to 42". Its all screwed to the studs in the wall and it's awesome to use compared to my rickety old set-up! If I had to do it again, I would have bought the prefinished base and cabinets, or just painted it.

i use the same knock off tupperwares from albertsons. 3 in a pack and hold 500 round of 357 mag with room to spare

I made a 2 foot long mount with 2 - 3/4" pieces of plywood. I bought one of those 2 foot wide folding tables and clamp the plywood mount on the table when I want to reload in front of the TV. For storage, I bought several plastic storage boxes at Wal Mart that were all the same size. that make it easy to stack them in a closet or on shelves.

Nothing wrong with those little plastic bins. My wife buys the oscar myer lunch meat and they come in plastic bins and I keep every one of them. They hold about 100 loaded rounds of .45...and various other things. Since they came with a lid its free storage for me.

I use those leftover lunch meat tubs also. My wife loves ice cream and buys the 5 qt tubs. I use those to put spent brass in. There is a bucket for dirty brass, a bucket for clean brass that has gone through the tumbler. When the clean bucket is almost full, sometimes sooner, it is time to reload that caliber.

I reload, so I'm cheap. I use the blue plastic tubs that mushrooms come in, cottage cheese containers, nut and mayonnaise containers...
They all are useful for storing and sorting brass and other stuff. And effectively free.

Ok, here's mine:
 Just finished it this afternoon: 9' 8" long, with the left side for reloading and the right for cleaning, maintenance and non-gun projects. Counter tops free from a remodel at my office, Gorilla rack legs free from a friend, plywood free from a neighbor (the bottom shelf is two layers glued and screwed so I can put the heavy stuff down there), paint for the shelves free from a former owner of my house (leftover from sprucing up the California gutters for the sale to us), misc hardware and tools I didn't already own to cut the plywood and put it all together ran about $50 (and the tools I'll use for other projects). Now I need to get to reloadin'! |

New to reloading....
Got tons of ideas from here for a bench.. I built the below bench, Then I asked my Flooring buddy (who owed me a favor) to "put some hardwood as a top".... This was the result.... I don't even want to put holes in it! More pics to follow.... 1st pic I took with the sun coming in the garage.. so it doesn't do it justice..   Getting ready to stain the bottom

The Top I had already put a 3/4 sanded plywood.... You can only amagine what it weighs at this point....

Reloading Bench
Here's where I spend a little time
 I just got back into reloading in the past couple years. I used to spend time with my Dad reloading and after he died my Mom sold all his stuff. Man...it's not cheap getting into reloading these days  I started with a Lee anniversary kit and have worked the way up to my RCBS Rockchucker...it's SWEET!!! Thanks for posting the pictures, they've given me a few new ideas.

As a total newbie in reloading I wanted to build something strong and that would last after reading the posts here. I built this bench for just under $100 with all new materials, now I just need a lot of knowledge to put it to good use.
