I hear you...I live in south Texas. I took over one of the bedrooms in my house after trying the garage. It was too hot and humid.

nuccx2001, I really like using the flooring to top the bench. I have a suggestion. build some sides and back using plywood and the same flooring, then put some doors on the front. It will look like a fine piece of furniture and you will keep the dust out. You could also put in some shelves and locks on the doors to have a secure place to store your ammo and components.

Here is my new bench and press setup. Even the Giraud trimmer is brand new. And if you have never used a Giraud, they are super cool.

Here's my reloading bench...
Here's my reloading bench. It's nothing pretty but gets the job done.
Actually, what you see was made completely from scrap lumber. My neighbor down the road added a "bunkhouse" and garage to his property and I was allowed to raid the scrap pile every evening. Maybe some day I''ll stain or paint it. I moved to Colorado last September and the house has a huge basement, so I just had to use a spot for reloading. Getting the wood for this was a great deal. I made do with what I could get, and what would make a functional bench. I built the upright piece first and then added the side bench for gun cleaning, the tumbler, and whatever. ![]() ![]()

Some nice detail work on that bench, it would almost be a shame to punch it full of mounting holes!

Here is my bench out in my hut.
the bench is two layers of 3/4 plywood glued and screwed, with a masonite top just screwed so i can replace it. Also the walls have 3/4 plywood all the way around so I can attach any place. Last edited by ephrank; July 3, 2012 at 04:56 PM. |

condo living, have to get crafty. Black and Decker unit from Lowes, added some 2x4s to the back for bracing and some casters so I can move it around. It fits all my stuff perfectly.
