This is the best I can do for gaudy. 1926 Triebel-Aushburg 16/16/8X57JR with 22 LR insert and 4X Hensoldt.

I call it my "pimp drilling".

Just picked up a Remington/Baikal SPR94 12 Gauge/.223 combo gun this weekend. Enjoyed shooting it at the range -- now trying to scope it with the odd/small 11mm base that is on it. Anyone with info head over to the "Accessories" page!

I having trouble making my picture attach, but mine's an Immanual Meffert 16 over 8x57R. Hope to actually take something with it this year...

I also have the Savage .222/20ga. I used to use it all the time for hunting quail, and when the coyotes started invading my quail fields it came mighty handy in culling off the excess coyotes. I placed a 4X scope on it with see thru mounts on it. Still have it, just haven't used it much anymore, as I wasn't the only one taking care of the coyote problem.

These are easy to scope and are very accurate, if not eye candy.

Get a two piece scope base adapter set to adapt a 3/8" grooved receiver over to Weaver type rings. I did this on the 12ga/7X57R version I recently sold. It worked great.

I have several one piece base adapters that are very secure and are steel with a top set screw to make sure the base doesn't move. The only drawback is they mount the scope a bit high.

For a combo gun (two bbls) I like The Valmet 412's,. They could he had in shotgun, combo gun or double rifle.

Best part is, you could buy an action and then buy any one of the more than 25 different bbls later!

Valmet also offered a QD scope mount,

And it's an all steel mount that goes on and off easily, and accurately! Here's a target from one of my 12ga - 30-06 bbl. sets, taking the scope off and putting it back on after each shot,

I shot a lot of big game with that combo, including 3 big bull caribou in one day. Here's one of them,

There are still plenty of 412's forsale, like this DR still new in the box,

you just have to look around a bit.

Great guns, very accurate, with many options!!

I've gone through literally dozens of them in the 412/412S Valmets and in 512 Tikkas made in Italy. I used to dabble in them heavily a few years ago.

I still have my original 412S in 12/12 with choke tubes and a Tikka 12/30-06 barrel, plus two scope mounts.

Their weight is getting to be too much for me to haul around, and I might list the set here and on several other forums soon.

These were/are still bargains in good shooting combos. Original barrels are getting hard to find, but the new Lothar Walther barrel sets are excellent, and the sights on the DR barrels are much better than the old folding ones.

OH...by the way...I have some replacement original folding sights, too. (for a price...

)

I have a Springfield M-6 and a Savage 24. The 24 is 12 gauge over .223 and I mean .223. It was almost imposible to extract when I tried 5.56. I have tried many different kinds of 5.56. Also, even in .223 bullets over 55 grains will keyhole unbelievably. The .223 barrel shoots well with 45 and 50 grain.

To Savage there grouse and bear in VT. Not that I have run across a lot but I did get one grouse to flush. And fish and game say there are over 6000 bear.

We were up there in southern VT a week ago and while I saw no grouse or deer on my walk we did see one further up the road from the car.

There are bears here in CT now! Can you believe that? We never had them here in the past.

We saw a full size black bear along a highway, watching to cross, in NW CT a couple of weeks ago.

Have never been on this site before but need help with a drilling that is being offered to me for sale from a local collector. Gun: hermann weihrauch drilling
Caliber/gauge: 7x57mm mauser; 16 gauge
Condition: 98%
Manufactured: 1925 to 1935. The estimated retail of this gun is around 6500 but that means what if I have no idea how long this gun will sit in auction. Theres one article about the exact hun titled "I have this old gun" which tells about its condition and history. I am a rare coin dealer and have no idea where to go with something like this. Taking a risk and buying the gun today regardless because I think its very unique and pristine and still opeartes beautifully. But any information on the gun would be greatly appreciated!

A 7X57 & 16ga (will have short 65mm chambers) shouldn't command that kind of price. I can find good ones, not pristine, with a scope in claw mounts for $2,500-$3,500.

I recently bought a very nice Sauer 3000 LUX game scene engraved circa 1955 in 16ga/70mm chambers and 6.5X57R, scoped with a 6X Hensoldt in Shuler claw mounts for 1/3 what they estimate the auction amount will be for that drilling. Now, the 7X57R drilling might be a sidelock and ornate. Then it could be a far more costly gun.

I've been fooling around with a Savage 24c. It's not as poorly regulated as some specimens out there. The shotgun patterns are a bit patchy but that can be fixed. The.22 barrel is more than accurate enough for small game. My problem with it is seeing the sights in the woods as my eyes are going fast.

My Sauer 12 X 12 X 30.06 is my go to gun! Its a pre- model 3000. It has a Supra Nickel 6 x 43 scope mounted. By the way, I need a turret cap for the scope. Any idea where I might find one?

Just got back from the lgs with a box of Remington 220 gr RN 30.06 and a box of Win 00 Buck at 1450 fps. Should be just what the Dr. ordered in the big swamp this weekend hunting hogs and deer. Turns the Drilling into Thor's Hammer!
