Thank you Gentlemen for the warm welcome.
I'll glad accept the compliments. It's not every day a girl gets told she has a charming accent or that being a female who likes guns is a good thing. One would think, esp. with the way some men react, that a lady with a firearm somehow threatens their masculinity? Crazy, right? |

First Post and a Grendel P-12 Orphan
We were left a Grendel P-12 pistol (as a present...or a curse). Our Grendel P-12 Pistol has a long running history of every 4th of 5th shot of not only clearing the empty shell but also completely throwing out the next full round. The running joke is fire three rounds and hurl the gun at the head of an intruder. When you pull the trigger and get a click (I have now read that dry firing is bad on these), we have learned to drop the clip, set the pistol down (and aimed down range) and look behind where you are standing on the range floor to find the live round. Like many others, we also get frequent stove pipes (one per 11 round clip) and the occasional dog greeting (nose of next bullet to butt of unejected fired round).
Tonight I took it apart (using a pin on an old compass to push out that troublesome barrel pin and a pound of flesh) to clean and the (plastic?) Recoil Spring Guide appears to have had the wider flat end that rests on the back end of the barrel flake off about a 1/16th inch of the end (like it cleaved off). Would that account as to why when I reassembled the pistol I cannot get the Barrel Pin to go back in to complete the assembly? After reading may FAQ sites I did try the pin both directions but no luck. An insight would be greatly appreciated. I sent a note to Kel Tec as the designed/built and buried them. They are closed until Jan 7, 2013 so thought I would check out and see what insight I could gather. From what I have read, it was not expensive and patterns well (I agree with this) but has more negatives than positives. Not my A gun but kind of run to shoot. Thanks |

Hi, I've been browsing the forum for a while now and thought it was time to meet the guys and gals that make it all work. I really enjoy technical stuff but also like to load my own ammo. Shooting is a blast when it's not so cold to freeze monkey parts! so here I am today, prepping .270 brass for hunting loads. Wish all of you the very best this holiday.

still learning to shoot
I am looking to retire sometime this year while there is still some of me leftover for me. I have been shooting most of my life off and on. Of late I have been looking into PBCR. I have an old gun and want it to shoot the way it was intended to be shot. I am sort of a bookend for the first guy that posted on this thread as I am trying to learn to shoot my great grand fathers old gun.

Hi, Im Archie a new member in Cedar Rapids, IA. I just applied for my permit to purchase on the 17th of this month and still have not heard anything about it yet. Is this normal and is there something I can do if it is not. I meet all the requirements to get one. Just not sure how long is to long to wait.

I am not familiar with Iowa law, there should be a web access to your state government sight regarding the timing of permit to purchase paperwork. In MN I have yet to hear anyone having to wait more than a week . Was your application dated by the LEO when you turned in in ? With the holidays it moght have gotten hung up so check with the regulations in your state and contact the law enforcement office where your turned the paperwork in. (they should also have given you a copy)

Hi. I am retired and like cars and guns. I own both cartridge and percussion handguns and a couple of cartridge rifles and shotguns. I have been collecting BP revolvers (mainly replicas) for a couple of years and just recently received my first and only ROA which I intend to use as my main shooter. Now that I have one I see why they are so popular.

New here, look forwards to to all the info this site has to offer! I'm relatively new into firearms (been hunting for a while, just always used my fathers guns) I currently own a little break action 20ga, a Winchester 94 30-30, a .54cal black powder my grandfather gave me, just purchased a gp100 .357 mag 2 days ago. Next I'm looking for a hunting rifle, mainly for elk. I'm located in western Washington

Hello Everyone! I suppose I'm one of the newest members to THR and wanted to say I'm glad to be here and hope I can learn a lot from you folks. I'm 60+ years old, an avid gun collector and enthusiast, and retired just last year from a very long time in law enforcement. I wanted to get into reloading after retirement, so, for the few years before retiring I bought almost everything I might need to get started. Now, I'm ready to go and I'm glad to be here and learn from all of you.

New member from Norway
Hi everybody
I live in Norway and I am a new member on this forum. My main interests are small game hunting and pistol shooting. I think it is interesting to discuss shooting with other people abroad and this seems to be the right place

A friend of my husband put me on to you all as a place where intelligent, measured discussion of the Right to Bear Arms can be found. There is so much fear mongering out there. We are fortunate to live in the free Commonwealth of Virginia. As members of the Citizens Defense League we are active in promoting gun rights in our state and keeping informed on issues relating to gun rights.

Hi there! I am new to the site. I stumbled upon it while doing some research on a High Standard .22LR pistol. I Live in Massachusetts now so I have to deal with the fun of Massachusetts gun laws. Looking forward to learning from all of you.

Hi AC80,
I'm confused. Do you have to get permission to purchase a firearm in Iowa? Here in Ohio, we just have to do a background check in the store. Or were you talking about a CCW permit? Just curious. Unkei

Ummm.... hello
![]() I'm pretty new here as a member, but I've read many a Highroad thread in doing research over the years. Figured I ought to join up so I can actively participate to learn more. I'm a USAF civil engineer currently stationed in Germany. Originally from Southern Illinois, I love to learn new things about firearms and to do outdoor activities. Unfortunately I haven't been able to do as many as I would like to do lately due to the rather oppressive laws in Germany. I look forward to learning more on this forum! |
