I think it has Sc frame which is cool. The only mild ammo seems to be lead Cowboy Action type. I see 200gr Ultramax .41 Colt stuff but I do not think it can be fired in .41 Magnum right....or is it suitable like .38 in .357 or .45LC in .454? I do not reload and do not wish to invest in equipment and spend time in doing so. If I buy this gun I need source of mild recoiling ammo to put in it.

That's an awesome pic and thanks for the info.
I'll take the second one from the left please ! If I could find a 1894FG at a price I could afford, I would snap it up quick ! I would have to force myself into a straight stock. Go ahead twist my arm !! LOL |

Count me in
Glad to see some good posts on the 41 mag, I can't seem to get enough of them. Very happy with the 210 jhp over 19.0 grains of H110, has been my go to load for many years. Have to show off the boys......latest addition is a very clean Ruger 3 screw from 1969, Greg

Wow. I am still kicking myself for not picking up a .41 Redhawk back when they were common as dirt. I really like the DA pull on a S&W much more than on the Ruger but it has a fine SA trigger and the gun is built like a Humvee. Heavy metal is good with .41 mag. ammo.

Drail- I used to agree with you about S&W DA pull being better than a Rugers. But having this Redhawk here, the old saying is true. Ruger's shoot smooth, not loose. The DA on my Redhawk will run circles around a Smith now IMHO.
Almost picked up a Blackhawk in .41 mag yesterday to compliment my Redhawk, but ended up with a Marlin 336 instead. Another day... |

Good morning Lerk
If your 336 Marlin is an "A" or "AS" model you can send it to JES reboring amd have it opened to a caliber.41 JES ! That is a .444 Marlin necked down to .41. I did the same but rechambered to .414 Supermag. How about a 265 grain GC bullet at 1980 fps cronographed ? Well the 41 Jes will beat that by another 200+ fps. Mike in ILL |

Too bad one of the big distributors couldn't get a special run of Redhawks in .41 magnum from Ruger. I scored a couple of Blackhawk flat tops in .41 when Williams did a run a couple of years ago. Maybe we could get a run of stainless .41 rifles from Marlin at the same time.

count me in folks, .41 has been my favorite since the first time I shot one... bounced a coke can 5 out of 6 shots with my father's blackhawk new model 4 5/8 inch barrel at 100 yards... Hounded him for years about selling me that gun, this christmas santa musta stole it from him because the gun was in my hands christmas day ;-) Now if this rain will stop I gotta get out there and try to re-create that feat with the coke can!!! What impressed me is I've never considered myself proficient with a handgun, but 5 out of 6 shots was pretty friggin cool!

From my experience, 5 out of 6 is one of the special qualities that many 41 mag shooters enjoy even at longer than traditional handgun ranges.

that's why i always wanted this gun! I didn't want one just like it, i wanted this one! hehe, did something similar with a p89 that he had years ago, went out and bought one just like it brand new and wouldn't be able to hit a barn with it! That was when I realized not all guns are the same and if you get one that's a shooter, hang on to it! I promptly got rid of the p89 and now years later, ended up with another p89, this one is a shooter so guess what? it ain't goin no where!

41 addict
Gotta ride with u guy's.....carried a M-58 concealed for years, still do. Also a Custom 657 with K rd butt and short bl for CC. I have a soft spot for "under dogs" witnessed by my fondness for 41's, 10mm pistols and 16 ga. SGN's.
Normally carry WW JHP's. Carry the N frames in CABO holsters. All good stuff. |
