Pietta 1858 Remington Target I picked up at the Cabelas in Billings Montana while on the way to Washington state for Christmas with family. On sale and no sales tax can’t beat that with a stick for sure and for certain.

I'm stoked. I already own an 8"' '58, but I took advantage of the Cabelas offer and have a shortie on back order. I plan on using the short '58 as my woods bumming gun on my uncle's 168 wooded property.

Got this Lyman new Model for 65 dollars and is like new inside .Want to shoot it before doing anthing else but cleaned it up best I could,it has under the load lever a circle with a big D and 2 Gs overlapping ! Used to know what it meant but thats what happens with age !

The DGG logo identifies the manufacturer as Armi San Paolo, now Euroarms.

Your gun is actually a replica of the first Remington Army model, known as the Remington-Beals. It's characterized by the lack of relief in the frame at the barrel/cylinder interface. This design proved to have serious jamming problems due to the lack of clearance in this area; the second and subsequent designs were improved somewhat.

One feature not true to the Remington-Beals design is the hammer safety notches in the cylinder; that was introduced later in the series.

I would also add that the most noticeable difference is the lack of sail on the rammer followed by the differing sight and then the inset "wings" on the cylinder pin.

Basically the ASP/Euroarms is a New Model Army with less exposed barrel at the breech end.
