Primarily a handgun guy, mainly CCW, with some sihlouette shooting from 2 decades ago.

I'm from Rural Arizona. I consider myself new to pistols, but I've been shooting them for around 6 or 7 years, but I've never worked on them or hand loaded or anything so I still have lots to learn. I love all firearms, but pistols are what I'm most interested in right now. I also love knives and always have at least one on me. I just started carrying my pistol everyday, so I'm still learning what's comfortable and what's inconvenient.

I am 25 years old, have been married for 5 years and have 2 daughters, ages 5 years and 18 months old. I taught my Wife how to shoot a pistol and my older daughter how to shoot my .22 rifle. They both love shooting and are very good at it.

Hi I am the newbie from Naperville IL. I am currently an student at WIU Macomb. I plan to get my degree in RN. I have served 3 and half year as medic in active duty military, now I am in the reverse.
I own a few fire arms. So far out of all the stuff I, I enjoy shooting my mosin and my vz2008 the most. alot of fire arm my friends and I have are mil surplus rifles. I am a big fun of surplus rifles for they are robust, relatively accurate,reliable and use cheap ammunition. overall they make a good home defense, plinking and project guns. Here is couple pic of my "most prized" firearms.

I'm a new member who has just received his concealed carry permit and am looking to buy a 9mm for when we travel. I've researched many guns and will find one I like, but would like to hear opinions regarding how best to conceal my weapon while in the car.

My initial thinking is to holster it on my belt near my right kidney area as I'm right-handed and this would conceal it from people approaching the driver's side should I have car trouble or some other issue. I'm completely open to suggestions from experienced ccw travelers as to how best to carry the weapon. Many thanks in advance.

My love goes from airpistol, over smokeless to black powder in different calibers and make.
I'm lately keeping an eye on your discussion about private gunownership and your 2nd Amandment. Living in Europe/Belgium I see where you're heading too. I'm very happy to have this hobby and can own toys. My friends say I'm pessimestic, but I'd rather call myself realistic when I say that we are becoming an extinct breed. I will shoot for as long as politicians will allow me to do so. And I very much hope you can keep your 2nd Amandment intact. Sincerely. SmokeyD

My Name is as you can guess Bob, and I love all things to do with black powder which is a bit of a problem here in UK as the gun laws are draconian to say the least.
I've seen on the forum a lot of talk about Indian made muskets, so I thought I would put my penny worth in for those interested.
I travel quit a bit and have seen for myself some of the Indian makers which is an eye opener to say the least. If theses guys had half the equipment sitting in my shop they would be able to make the finest guns, "you bet"
I was interested in what steel they used in the barrels and have come to the conclusion it is second-hand hydraulic lines made from cold drawn steel tubing from the many ships being broken up in Bangladesh?? often described by them as (old oil cans).
They cut this to length and forge it by swaging it to swell the breach end and muzzle if needed. They drive a mandrill into the bore to approximate the bore size then with a simple reamer on a long stem fitted to a electric drill ream the bore.
Primitive yes but given the skill they get the result, the wood used is teak in the most part and pot luck to how good it might be, to see a guy checker this wood with a sharpened old broken file in a few minutes is all most beyond belief.
Locks and other parts are hand forged and filed to size, no two parts are identical and all are fitted by hand to one gun.
Anyone interested in these guns and with the right skill level, could take over were they leave off and finish the parts to a much higher level and produce a good looking weapon.
now the interesting bit I was offered as many as I wanted for $250 each from a one off or a hundred, posted to UK/USA $50 each.
I watched as the guy loaded a gun (he asked me to pick any gun stacked against a wall which with a hand drill he drilled the vent hole there and then) with a handful of black powder and two lead balls walked out side and holding it to his shoulder let her go!!! big bang lot of grinning faces and all looked ok ( have to say I kept well out of the way)
to say the least I was impressed.
So much so that I paid for a baker rifle there and then this was just before Christmas and the gun will be posted this week
It is my intention to send the barrel to Birmingham proof house to get it tested and refinish the gun completely, file and finish the brass work to military bright, brown the barrel with artificial twist finish, case harden the standing breach, case harden the tumbler and sear, polish the springs, and internal lock plate, rifle the barrel with seven groves 1/4 turn in 30 inches and re-stain the wood and oil finish.
mark the gun with all original marks to wood and metal (the only thing it will have other than the original marks will be the modern proof marks)
Sure looking forward to this project but would like to hear some advice on tuning the flint lock as this is not something I've done before so any help would be appreciated?

i'm John from Rutherfordton and there is a wealth of information and great reading for people like me who love to tinker and do things like reload! I've just gone through separating most of a pickup load of empty shot shells that will go through my MEC 9000. Love it! I have reloaded brass for many years and got my start with a Lee Loader for 30 Carbine with which I made a good-sized dent in the top of one of the posts of a bunk bed while hammering out rounds with the little loader and using stick bullet lube for the cases. Since, I got a Rockchucker and have used it for many years and recently got a Pro 1000 and a LoadMaster which I haven't yet got completely set up. Anyway I just retired and look forward to lots of reloading and reading about it. Only problem is giving all the shells away but I hope to take care of that soon by getting into skeet shooting or something :-)
