$300 NRA life membership - Page 31

I need to renew my membership this year and was hoping I could get some help to become a life member. Could anyone help sponsor me?

Just got the lifetime membership for 300.00 on the phone all I had to tell them was a friend told me about the offer. I called 1-855-nra-2013.

Silly question, but how do I sponsor someone using either the www.nra-2013.org site or the number? I have to log in using my NRA # but have to enter a credit card number. Do I ask people for their CC number? Or do I trust them with my NRA # and e-mail and zip code so they can do it themselves?

Yosemite Sam, I believe through the website they would need your membership number, zip, and email. The credit card number can be theirs. I sponsored someone here and provided him with the above info.

From what I read above, calling 888-678-7894 does not seem to require any sponsor info.

I received my email from the NRA today informing me my LIFE Membership has been processed! (I signed up online on 1/15) Will still take 6-8 weeks for the packet to be mailed due to the tremendous influx of new and upgraded members.

hydrology_joe.. expect it in about 2 weeks. I signed up a month or so ago for the Life and was told the same thing.. 6-8 weeks. Due to the 8000 new daily signups. I got my packet 8 business days later. I've signed up a few others since and they have all received it within 2 weeks.

Edit...never mind, called the number, do NOT need a sponsor. Should get a packet in 4-8 weeks. What comes in the packet? And I really hope this isn't a scam.

I got this membership within the first couple of weeks of January, still waiting for my packet, so I'm thinking it's closer to 8 weeks than 4. As far as a scam, I've been hoping the same thing - I've started getting emails a couple of weeks ago and one car decal for 2013, so I gave them a call thinking lifetime members shouldn't get a yearly decal but maybe a lifetime decal or something(?) - I was told to be patient. We will see.

Glad to hear that. Was just back after digging up my membership card to send you a PM.

It isn't a scam. I got my first membership as a free membership in a drive some years back when they were looking to increase the roll size. The package came, just like I had paid real dues. And at the end of the year a renewal came which I sent back.

A couple of years later I sprang for the life membership, then sometime later the endowment.

A lot of people complain about this, that, or the other with the NRA. My only complaint is I wish I could get off the wine list. I mean, come on, wine? It's a gun organization. Send me ammo catalogs. Or Orvis outfitting catalogs. Or pair up with Filson. But get over thinking you'll compete with Binny's.

Thanks longkinfe12 and michaelbsc I specifically asked, "Do I need a sponsor?" I was told no. Of course that could be different depending on who answers the phone, so be on the ready.

Process was pretty simple (< 5min):
1. Name
2. Address
3. What magazine do you want?
4. Credit card info
5. Disclaimer (no part of the cost is tax deductible)

Checked my CC online, it still hasn't been charged. Now I just have to wait for the coveted Life Member window sticker.
