Could that Remington marked pistol could have been an early ASM? I collect Colt marked ASMs. I know they did make 1858s.

Cabela's delivered this to my house last week for under $177. Managed to clean up the trigger all by myself.

It likes 3F 777 decently well:

30-gr 777 3F/143-gr .454" - M 1109/S 76.94/D 30.16 (10 yds)

congrats Erich.
There's a bunch of us here that got their '58s from Cabelas. I'm pretty sure it's the best deal I ever got on a handgun. It is possibly my favorite too.
If there is anyone reading this thread who is debating about trying one......I say you can't go wrong.

What nipples are good for a Uberti stainless 58 that will actually HOLD #11 caps in place?

What I learned today about my Stainless 58

After my last range day I cleaned my beautiful stainless steel Remington 85 New Army along with my Colt 1860 Army. I used some bore butter on the cylinder of the 1860 Army, and left the patch on the rod. Well when I was ready to put the cylinder back in the stainless steel Remy, I picked up the rod with the bore butter patch, and ran it through the chambers of the stainless steel cylinder.
When I was loading it today (and I use .457 balls) as I was capping, the balls literally started dropping out of their chambers! I was dumfounded. Then I realized it might be because of the lubed chambers. After cleaning the chambers completely free of any trace of lube, the balls remained seated in the chambers. Who knew LOL!
Anybody else ever have this experience?
If notů..well I guess you can learn a lot from a dummy

I reload mine after cleaning. No lube. When I did I ran an alcohol patch prior to remove any oil.

I have both a full-size and a 5 1:2" models the long barrel is very accurate the shortie ina fled best!
Power is about the same using 35 gr Pyrodex
O believe that you can load heavy and approximate the ?45ac especially with 250 gr conicals! O load at 35gr charges and get good accuracy and decent FPE from both revolvers

I'd rather carry a well loaded Remmie than any other C&B revolverich advanced engineering went into the remingtons '

O want a navy model .36 pocket Police just to see how a "hot" .37 shoots?
If the .36 is anything like the .44's, boy oh boy
Can o join the group?
