Kershaw Parts

Has anyone ever tried to buy parts from Kershaw?

I have a Blur that I bend the pocket clip on at least once a year, and I have to take it off to bend it back into place. That's not normally a big deal, but I've abused the knife enough it's to the point that the Torx heads on the clip screws are rubbing flat. I actually had difficulty getting the Torx driver in this time.

I'm sure they'd replace them for free, because that's how good their warranty is, but I'd feel better if I paid them for the screws and did it myself, since I caused the damage.

I filled out the contact form on their website and requested that I be contacted so I could buy the parts from them since it just wanted spares to custom finish. They sent the auto reply that they'd received the message and I had no further contact until a package showed up in my mail box a week later with every spare part I asked about (and even ball bearing pivot washers that I didn't ask about).

I'm pretty sure they'll just send you the parts for free even if you call and ask to buy them.

To add emphasis to what ugaarguy said, my dealings with Kershaw/KAI customer service have been similar.

CRKT and Ka-Bar are also notably excellent.

Spyderco was pretty good.
Benchmade was terrible, Emerson was worse.

Yeah, that's what I figured would happen - they'd ship for free, regardless of my request to pay. I've heard nothing but stellar comments about their CS/warranty, which is part of the reason I've even invested in their kitchen knives.

It's a shame we have to deal with such helpful manufacturers.


In reference to Benchmade, I've never dealt with their customer service, but their workers at the SHOT Show have always come off as snobbish to me, at least the ones I've (tried to) talked with.

Four hours later, I got a response:

The majority of our knives require a Torx bit #6 and Torx bit #8 to fit into the head of the screws. The Torx #6 fits the pocket clip screws, handle screws, and safety lock screws on all of our current model Kershaw knives. The Torx #8 fits into the pivot screw. Some of our larger Zero Tolerance models require Torx #6, Torx #8 and Torx #10 to dismantle the knife.

Please be sure to use a Torx bit and not an Allen bit, this is a common error we see. The slight difference in shape will strip the heads out of your screws. I believe torx tools are available for purchase at Radio Shack, Sears, Harbor Freight, Lowe’s and various other hardware stores at relatively inexpensive prices. It may be a good idea to have your knife with you when you are shopping to be sure you purchase the correct size bit(s). We offer bit sizes #6 and #8 in a Keychain for $9.95. If you would prefer to purchase a set from us please call our #800 line below or provide us with your mailing address and a credit card number including authorization code and expiration date.

You have the option of adding blue Loctite to the threads of the handle, pocket clip and pivot screws to ensure a tight fit. Loctite can also be purchased at any hardware store. Allow the knife to dry for 24 hours before using again.

Most of our pocket knives are designed to have a pocket clip and be attached to your pants pocket while carrying on your persons. When attaching and carrying a Kershaw knife on your pants pocket, make sure to have the knife inside your pocket with the spine of the Knife blade up against a sewing seam to ensure the knife cannot open while you are carrying it.

This is in no way an attempt to slam KAI's customer service, but I recently had a similar case as you - the assist spring for my Leek was getting weak, plus I wanted to find out how I could acquire their low-ride pocket clip so it would sit a little lower in the pocket.
I filled out their warranty claim form on their website, checked off the spring and pocket clip, and in the notes asked how I could go about getting the low-ride clip. I got the same auto-email response that you did, and several days later an envelope showed up in my mailbox with the spring and standard pocket clip.
Never heard anything about the low-ride clip, so I guess they don't bother reading the Notes section of that web form I filled out.
Not complaining, just saying.
I suppose I could always call them on the #800 line that they reference, but it wasn't that big a deal to me.

Deltaboy, this is my second Kershaw (I lost the first), and it's the only issue I've had, and it's really user error.

I know it's relatively common for the springs to wear out on the spring assist models, but they're very quick about fixing them. FWIW, mine is almost three years old, maybe just over, and I use it quite a bit. So far the spring is still holding up. I don't sit around flicking it open, though.

Tiamat, I don't think they even make a low ride clip for the Leek because of the offset clip holes. It would be nice if they'd emailed you back and told you they don't have such a part to sell you. But, as you say, we're really picking at nits with a company that has most excellent customer service.

Gotta agree with uga. If they didn't send you a low ride clip they probably don't make a low ride clip that lines up with the holes in the Leek. Not their error they didn't send a unicorn in the mail.

kershaw parts

give them a call. they are an american company that treats their customers right,. thats one of the primary reasons i carry a kershaw (the ones made in america, not the ones made in china)

In my experiance, all you gotta do is email Kershaw with concern over a certain part, or parts. Offer to buy them if you want, but in a week or less your parts in question will arrive in your mail box... completely free.
Often times with extra screws or pocket clip. Kershaw has by far the best service that I have ever dealt with. If something aint up to par, no matter what the reason, they take it upon themselves to make it like new again, no questions asked. Hardly anybody, let alone another knife company, compares to Kershaw warranty/service.
