Once or twice I've seen people post pictures like that, except that these people had a nice big Hollow Point staring at the camera. It looks really cool, but I don't care how safe you think it is, use a timer on the camera or something. It did look cool though to see the hollow point at the end of the barrel.

When I do that, I take out the firing pin beforehand as a just-in-case safeguard, plus I try to stay away from being in front of the gun as I can while I'm snapping the pic. I don't much care to be in front of even unloaded guns, anyways, heh.

A Gold Dot or a Hydra-Shok or a Glaser Blue would look cool.

Even one of those silly Fang-face thingys would be interesting.

Nice shot. You might want to give the breechface a once over, though.

Regarding safety, I've heard of people using mirrors to get shots which may be dangerous. The FBI or ATF made some interesting movies of various bombs exploding (shot at something like one million frames per second, played back at normal rate) using that technique. That way, the camera survives.

I like the way the deep, rich color of the wood came out in the pic.

For some reason, whenever I take pictures of my 1911, the grips come out looking almost red.

That pic reminds me of the reel that came with the Sawyers View-Master back in the late 50s.

The first frame was a field of yellow flowers in black & white
The second frame was the same field in color "Color adds a lot"
The third frame was the same field in 3-d "Stereo makes it real"
The fourth frame was a 1860 Colt with the muzzle hanging right in front of your face and the "loaded" cylinder wayyyyy back in the distance! That gun looked HUGE.

I loved that reel !
