Holster suggestions - leather, IDPA....

I just ordered a CZ-85 Combat today. It will be used for range work and possibly a little IDPA. I would like to get suggestions for a good quality holster. Must be leather - must fit CZ-75 or 85 and must be easy on the finish. I ordered blue. I know the satin nickel is more durable, but I just like the way the blue looks.

Holster does not need to have thumbreaks, in fact it will probably only get used for IDPA if I get into it. So, it must be IDPA legal. So far am considering:

Desantis Speed Scabbard
High Noon
Horshoe Leather

Any other good brands to consider. Would like to keep it under $100. Quality then price, but cheaper is obviously better.

The Safariland 560 is suede lined and according to their webpage, fits both.

Check out Galco or Kramer... I use a Galco High Ride (FL212) with thumb break for my 1911 in IDPA. It has not de-Blue my gun and holds it very secure. My Kramer is for my 625 N Frame. Like them both. Keep the suede clean, and it will not hold gritt that will scratch your bluing... Both of mine were under $65.00... Enjoy

I have a Safariland 560 for IDPA which is very stable, fairly concealable, and very fast. It's not bad on my Black-T finished Springfield Professional either. It has a very well done (large) paddle, and in fact it is the only paddle holster I have ever really liked.

It is also very easy to reholster with this item. It seems to combine the best qualities of leather and Kydex. Downside is it is heavy and a little bulky.

Rob Leatham was using one of these at the SHOT show in speed-draw/dry-fire demos and he made it look like it has the performance of a full-house IPSC Levitation System. He's queeeeeek.

In all-leather I have been disappointed by many brands but Alessi has never let me down. I have an Alessi DOJ and CQC-S on order for my 1911's, after years of using other Alessi gear (including another CQC-S) for other pistols.

One of a short list of "Best leather" IMHO.

Personally I have been generally disappointed by Galco for serious work, as their leather loses firmness much too quickly in my experience, and tends to have "flaky" interiors (too many times I have performed a presentation only to be staring at a big chunk of dead cow stuck to my front sight).

Their leather belts are not too bad but better can be had for the same price (and a wait, usually).

"Easy on finish" is relative, and not part of my personal consideration.

That said, I have (mostly) Sparks and Galco moo or horsey, so I can't directly address your list.

BUT

I suggest you use your 'social' holster for game, because it trains you.

And remember, IDPA has 'holster list'.

you can't go wrong with a milt sparks summer special. assuming they make one for a cz-85.

Thanks for the replies. Since I don't carry "socially" this holser will only be used for IDPA. If I were to carry it would most likely be a much smaller gun, maybe my Makarov...

Will check into the Safariland. Also got some good replies in another thread and am looking at a Tucker Gun Leather holster. Have been checking against the IDPA list to make sure anything I'm considering is on the approved list.

Check out the Don Hume site; also, Tucker Leather. I have holsters from both, very nice, Hume (JIT Slide & H724) on the less pricey side, but the Tucker HF-2 I have is very sweet.
I had a High Noon Topless, nice construction, except that the reholstering was difficult, as there was no re-inforcement at mouth of holster, tended to close up a bit. I was useing it in IDPA, so I was doing a lot of in/out, you need the reinforcement, holster must stay open.

I have a near new Dillion Master at ebay. Check it out. It is in excellent shape. Used only once. Yes it is IDPA legal. Very fast.

I looked at that holster on e-bay and it looks like the one for the compact model which is also listed on Dillons website. Looks too short for the full size model.
